Seems like a TON of cash to spend on stock shiz.

You can buy brand new knock offs for almost that price

Yeah it seemed like a lot to spend on stock rims, I wasn’t pleased hearing that it was that expensive. Is there any harm in not doing it? Will the salt affect the aluminum and make it structurally worse?

I really like the OEM paint and rim but I don’t have that kind of money to be spending on painting rims

$1400 for 8 rims is a lot of cash

    do it yourself....

Before I took them off the truck (90k km if I remember)

I just used regular spray paint and some of my time to wire wheel, sand, and prime and paint. Only speciality tools was a drill with a wire brush attachment. If you have a grinder, even better with a wire wheel. I also just painted the face....

I think I’ll give it a try, I’ll have to find the paint code for OEM OR rims. Is there any type of special primer to use with aluminum ?

To be honest I don’t think I even used primer. If anything a self etching metal primer.

The good thing about spray bombing them is it is easy to touch up.

I would stop in at a few sandblasting shops and ask what they would charge to take them down to bare metal. See if you can get a cash deal.

This that and the other thing.
price is pretty average, maybe a little on the high side. you can get them powder coated for about 100/110 a wheel. if you don't do anything about it, they will start to leak air around the bead like mine did lol that's why I got mine powder coated.

Nice! If I had good fab knowledge I would have made mine myself. Thought it’d be cheaper and easier on my mental health to just buy one fabbed. I’m probably going to make my own sliders though, if not this year, next.

I wanted a tube bumper and don’t have access to a bender so that was the deal breaker. I’ll be making each of the sliders just out of 1 length of 2” square tube with probably 4 or 5 supports welded to the frame. Don’t know if I’m going to angle them or not, I think I want to put in a 1” body lift so I will probably decide once I decide if I’m doin that.

Yeah i did 3/16 frame plate to 2”square for stand offs and the first tube angled up, had my buddy bend the 2 angles i wanted on each end of both tubes, cut em apart and just pieced it together

I have a borrowed bender now but idk how to use it yet. Ill try it out when i build my tube rear bumper and bed racks

Those look great, good job. I wish I had access to a bender. I think I’d be more enthusiastic about honing my welding skills if I had a jd2 laying around lol

Very nice. I don't know if I have the patience, maybe. Biggest issue for me would be bending the tubes. Have you considered making more?
You've really got me considering this now lol.
I never once thought about making sliders. Bumper I wouldn't attempt, too time consuming. Plus taking the factory one off.. driving without it? Or reinstalling it every time.
