Now I am wondering if this would work with my sun roof?

Not the exact answer to your question but I am at 79.5" to the top of my Pelican on 33x12.50x18, 76.0" dead even to the top of the rack side plate (highest point).

UPS has it as 221.98 if I ship it to Perfectionist (Car Stereo shop my friend owns). I haven't checked another place to compare but that seems like it's in the ballpark compared to things we've shipped up there before? Package is 60x8x8 41lbs from 80104 if you want to search a little bit too and see if you can find it cheaper.

Assuming standard lighting options are for the two 10” BD S8’s? Any chance of doing a 30” or 40” S8 in the front?

Yes sir I can adapt to the light bar that you would like to have. I made the first one for my own truck and I run the s8 lights so that's the one everyone sees.

I love the style of this rack! Do you have a price for a basic one all coated black with no mounts?

I believe the basic one is $799 shipped in CONUS/48 but if the sides were to be painted like the rest it would be an extra $50. Painted any other color would be $150.

Hey brother the rack by itself (inner and outer sides, 6 bars, four brackets to mount to roof and all the applicable spacers and hardware is $799 shipped + an additional $50.00 for having the outside plates powder coated. The first one that we sold to a neighbor here is going to look just like that. So $849.00 to your front door step and all you will need is the stuff you're going to attach to it. It will come with 20 of the SS ball bearing lock threaded sliders that go in the rails to attach gear to. They are threaded at m6-1.00.

Are the crossbars you are using custom, or can you buy those somewhere?. Been looking for something similar but haven't found anything I like. These look like they would work well for what I'm doing.

I ordered these from a place in Denver but going into production is requiring a whole new level of available quantity. The specs are 40mm wide 20mm tall. One groove, along one of the wide sides. Close to this is at McMaster-Carr...search for aluminum extrusion and you'll find the imperial size of it. It's close. You have to watch the deflection of them so you can really load them down so do some research before you order. I can get you just the bars that we use if you need them (up to 72" wide no problem) and the cost really isn't that bad. (About 32 bucks for a 48" one) and they come anodize silver. We have ours powder coated over the anodization. It's just a preference thing really.

Yeah the McMaster bars are what I've been looking at but I like the bars you are using here much better. And I only want the slots on 1 side of the bar, don't want all 4. Any info you could provide as to where I can order these would be appreciated.

I really like your design here, it just sits too low and i'm designing something where the crossbars sit a little higher off the roof. From reading through the thread it sounds like you are trying to go as low profile as possible. This design is probably the best looking rack I've seen so far for 3rd gens though, really impressed.

    @Relic_Micah,

Have you thought about prefabbing some ‘floor plate’? Sometimes it’s really nice to have a flat surface for putting things on. These could probably be done out of mesh or drilled aluminum.

This thought comes from my FJ days where I was prone to filling the back with 15+ bags of mulch and throwing another 6-9 on my mesh floor roof rack. Granted, with a pickup bed I might be able to avoid that.... but with a fixed crossbar solution, you’re really limited to things that can bolt or straddle well.

    Opportunity to sell more stuff?

One of the major benefits of it would almost be armor for hail. We get hammered here. Never seen anything like it before I moved here and it comes out of nowhere. That is a good idea.

Hey man thanks a lot. You could get ours up off the roof line by increasing the spacers between the cab and the mounts for the rack but if you're anything like me at all......I don't buy a lot of stuff that I know I can build. Something about the process of thinking it through knowing where you've been and what would have been so nice to have had.

Our bar material ships in to us in 20 foot sections and we have to chop it down to the 48.00" and thread the fastener locations on them. The closest you'll get without ordering huge stuff or a lot of it...is going to be McMaster-Carr or 8020.net Both of those places have the one sided extruded. Black or silver. 8020 has metric and imperial and McMaster-Carr just has the imperial. Major difference is hole alignment. On the Metric stuff the hole spacing is 1.1024 part center to center. I'm not sure about the imperial stuff but probably less decimal points. Hahaha.

Like I said if you want ours I don't have a problem getting you set up with what you need and ours do arrive to us silver (raw wasn't an option) but we can have them powder coated or sent to you as is. The silver doesn't look bad at all. (Think Thule bed risers, same color and sheen.)

Is it possible to add a mount to the center point on the roof? Even if it's not needed it's just a little extra piece of mind and rigidity
