So I have a 2018 TRD OR. I had the seat reupholstered with leather if this helps. The issue was there before that though. The passenger seat shakes pretty bad and rattles whenever I’m driving. I’ve cranked down the seat bolts and have attempted to pull it apart but couldn’t find where I could tighten down the compenents for that back rest. I’m assuming it’s the backrest part of that makes sense. Any advice? Appreciate the responses in advance.

I was getting a rattle with mine when I bought it as well. It turned out that the seat wasn't "clicked" in place on the forward/backward rail. To clarify, when you lift the handle to the front of the seat to slide the seat forwards/backwards, there are set notches where the seat can be positioned. Mine was in between one of those notches, so it wasn't locked into place. Maybe it's the same issue with yours?

I also had this rattle. I found a post on here that lead me to the seatbelt anchor mounting location for passenger seat on the B pillar close to the floor. I popped off the plastic cover, removed the bolt and placed a wave washer between the bolt and seatbelt anchor. The rattle is gone now. It was months of looking and frustrating. I also thought it was the seat and tightened every bolt on the seat base. If I put lateral pressure on the seat it would stop. Turned out, that was just putting pressure on the seatbelt next to the seat. Good luck.

Unfortunately I’m not having the same issue. I wish it was that simple thank you for the insight though.

Just to be clear you’re stating to remove the cover to the B pillar on the passenger side. Not anything physically attached to the passenger seat? I’m at work now so I won’t be able to try this until later today. Will post an update this evening after I give it a go.

No problem man. I hope you find the problem and it's an easy fix. Good luck

I find the head rest makes the rattle for me. If you take off the headrest and pry the poles out to the side it stops the rattle. Also if you put the headrest all the way in the seat base it helps too.

@Sam275 Yes, the little cover snaps off and you can see the anchor bolt. It is not attached to the seat.

@Sam275 Also, I could replicate the sound by jiggling the passenger seat belt lightly while holding it near the top anchor point on the B pillar.

Just tried this one over lunch. Didn’t solve the issue I’m having but helped reduce some of the “shaking” on the headrests part. I wish they would have had those groves on both sides to click into the headrest. Would make it a lot more secure. The back seat headrests have both sides slotted if I’m not mistaken. Thank you @Lunabird for the advice though did it to both driver and passenger side.

try putting something soft (wash cloth) between the seat and the console. shove it in there tight. it will stop. there is to much free play down in the track used to adjust the seat. the rattle is the seat hitting the console. you can test this by pushing the top of the seat away from the console while you drive the noise will stop. it drives me nuts. i even bought a seat from a wrecker to see if it was any better it was cloth and the noise was gone. the problem is only there with leather i have leather. the cloth seats are not as wide and don't hit the console when shaking.

Interesting idea. So basically use the center console to brace the seat via a rag or something. Hmm, I may try this too. I noticed the seat just vibrates away over there while I am driving.

When you did it did you do it between the bottom/seat or the console and the back?

Just below the lid of the console so it does not effect it opening. So it's on the back part of the seat. I started using a pack of gum but that looked crappy.

My seat shakes like crazy once I hot 80 on the highway. Then when I slow down it cuts down a little but is still there. I don't ride in the seat but seeing it moves is nerve racking.

I’m about a month late sorry. I’ve tried all ideas listed. The seat still rattles like a mother. I’ve gone with the rag between the console and just praying. I’ve got an appointment scheduled with the installers of my katskinz to see if there’s something loose in that seat. Fingers crossed they find the culprit. If there’s nothing to be done after that I’ll just be forced to have the radio on.

@TheSharksDen youve got the exact same issue as me. If they discover a fix there I’ll be sure to post it here.

Dude I have this too. It’s not constant, but over bumps my passenger seat sounds like it’s rocking back and forth real fast.

If seat adjustment is not clicked in place, if someone sits and you accelerate, it will definitely bang into the next notch. Best way of course is to sit on the seat, make adjustment then push your rear end front and back to make sure it's locked into the notch...sounds too simple doesn't it? Did you look under the seat, by chance your new seat cover installer may have left a tool under it?
