Nothing definite yet (not to dissuade you from taking better care of your teeth) but it seems like the first big break in a while for Alzheimer's research. There is a lot of cool stuff going on, my town is seeing a lot of investment in biotech, specifically making body parts https://www.politico.com/magazine/s...ring-transplant-artificial-3d-printing-216104

I think that stuff is so amazing / fascinating, but my tinfoil hat side hates sending away my DNA to some random company. Yes, I know that's no different than your doctor's office, but somehow I think I've taken the privacy invasion stuff too much to heart. Then again, there's those MLB satellites, right?

Regardless, it is pretty awesome to know your history like that.

This is awesome, as a former smoker and drinker I need to order some lungs and a liver please! Going to be big business and save millions. Win-Win!!

To be honest, 23&Me are scumbags. They got caught selling all the info to medical companies and now it's just part of their policy and they make it very clear, Ancestry doesn't do that. There has also been reports of employees of 23&Me telling all white people they have a little bit of black in them, because they think it would upset racists? Happened to my FIL actually, they said he was 3% black, let me tell you, he was pumped. Then the news came out they were doing that and his DNA results updated to remove that. Sooooo I was in it for the medical info, knowing that my data was going to be abused and that I might be lied to about my geneology. I had Ancestory's info though to back that up, really just wanted the medical info.

In the end though, if they make some miracle serum off my DNA that'd be awesome and I wouldn't really care. Would it be cool to get a few million for that? You bet, but what can ya do.

Saw this in my travels today. "You know what? This will decimate all, after, you put about fifteen grand in it or more. If we have to, overnight parts from Japan."

What stinks is even with inflated Supra values, it would be work 25-30k max with 40k worth of parts into it. I want a Supra bad, but that isn't going to work for me. I've come to the realization I will never own one, unless values fall into the toilet 10-20 years from now.

I'm super interested in doing the DNA health thing, but was warned off after reading a few things online that say now that you know your risk levels for certain things if your health insurance ever asks you, you'll have to tell them or commit fraud.

Not sure how big of a worry that is, but it was enough to make me hesitate. That and the whole sending my DNA off to a company with no real guarantee they won't sell it (or the info) to someone else. Or be hacked.

I feel like you could get around the insurance thing a little. Maybe someone reads the results and if they aren't horrid, never tells you? Or just do it in someone else name and then you can't be traced back. Maybe a lot of work for nothing though so might not be worth it.

23&Me WILL sell your info, Ancestry says no, but who knows who will own it in the future. I guess I don't care if someone has my dna right now unless they make clones of me, but I'm not that impressive. I've also been hacked like 7 times according to these fraud alerts we constantly get. Anytime you did anything online your info got hacked. Probably everything about you is online. I know my passwords and info is out there, credit karma found my stuff in like 10 different databases.

I totally get it. I wanted a clean white 88-90 turbo for years as well (the full width tail lights but black body line), but those are all terribly ragged out around here. The MkIV is the dream goal, but when I bought the C5 I was looking for one and the cheapest one I could find in the US that wasn't like the one I linked above was 23K and it was a green non-turbo automatic. What stinks is in 2007 when I bought the STi out of college the best Supra in the US was probably 35k and you could buy Turbos all day for 20-25k. I simply had no where to store one so I wouldn't need to drive it in the winter.

The MKII cars are reasonably easy to find, and they are starting to pop up more and more in good condition to boot.

have you changed your passwords since, and made sure not to use the same password for different accounts?

My email, banks, etc... I've changed the passwords and my apple id to get stuff on there is different. That said, you can still use it to post on the forums and other similar non-vital sites.

While I'm not looking to make it easy, I'm also aware I'm not willing to do all the stuff needed to be 99% secure. Even then, there are assholes out there that can get you if they want. I try to avoid casual fraud, the big boys will get me if they want. Most secure thing I probably do is tape/disable my cameras on things that aren't a cell phone.

A lot of people are like that, myself included. I'm looking to start using a password manager. It's all about making yourself the hardest nut crack, no one is impermeable. I am also weary of the webcams, you can never be too sure.. haha

A couple websites for you guys to check out. Looks like a couple forums I've been on have been hacked at some point. Nothing important, but I guess I have passwords floating around out there somewhere. Some services I have require 2FA. For things like bank accounts, I never use "remember password" in case that device gets compromised.

My mom and dad use them, seem pretty easy and I really should. I've started telling my wife all my passwords and shes been writing them down. At this point I don't really know most of them and if I ever wanted to start being a bad husband I'd be busted pretty quick

It might be time to get a real one though.

2 factor is key really. If I need approval from my phone to login on any new device ever, then how can I be hacked? Well without robbing my phone and computer but my phone is finger print locked. It can be annoying, but it's worth the security.

edit: I am sure there are ways, but not by your average hacker just cruising password sites and buying cc numbers

2FA is great, and there is more chance of someone getting your password from the internet like you said than finding it written down on a sticky note attached to your computer at home

I think the only account that's compromised I should maybe care about is MySpace. I'm pretty sure I deactivated it years ago :notsure:
