I've known several who have been lucky enough to survive a bike accident and they won't ever ride on the street again.

Lord help the guy, who decides to pick my daughter up for a date on one... :sawzall:

I'm curious about the wet traction and road noise of those.

On TerraGraplers now and won't buy another set.

I'm just not happy with the road ride of my treadwrights. they are great offroad, no issues, and I don't daily drive it so it's not an issue right now.

but it's not going to be a trailer rig so driving to the trails isn't much fun.

Just make sure it’s the pros. They clean out fast if not staying clean. They still gripped the slick roots and mud and I wasn’t even aired down.

I don't remember saying that, but I might have.

The KO2's could feel everything, you could feel it if you ran over a dang piece of grass in the road. The Guard Dogs are better than that, but they're just kinda "wobbly" feeling very slightly unbalanced even though they are perfectly balanced.

I've never been one to let fears get into the way of doing stuff that I like. My parents hate guns, yet I take my boys out shooting and hunting. My wife's parents are scared to death of motorcycles, yet my youngest son has a 50cc dirt bike and I'll be picking one up soon to commute back and forth to work again. I've gone through Air Assault school in the military and fast roped out of a Blackhawk in pitch black darkness. Raced motorcycles over 170mph on a closed track. Rock climbed, bungee jumped, mountain bikes, automatic weapons, swords and martial arts. I still love to do all of this, but I'm much more careful and less reckless as I was before. I'm 45 years old by the way and I don't want to be at an age one day and wonder what it was like to do_________. Kinda slowed down now and my kids seem to share the same passion for stuff that I did when I was a kid too! Makes me feel like a proud papa!

On another note, have any of you tried hte OVTune on your 3rd gens yet? Is it worth $700.

Do your research. OVtune is promising, but I think it still has bugs to be worked out.

What were you trying to do with it?

I just hit 3K on my truck this morning, so I'm familiar with how it drives now. Driving up hills around 60-70, it downshifts and doesn't want to shift up to the next gear, until I'm ALL the way up over the hill and start the descent on the other side of the hill. So here I am, screaming at 3700 RPM for almost a whole mile, until I clear the top of the hill. I've tried shift over to S and up shifting to the next gear, but it stays locked in the same gear. I've let completely off the gas pedal, but as long as I'm going uphill, it's still staying in the low gear. This is specifically the 431 bypass in Oxford. This kinda urks me. It's starting to make me miss the MT in my 06. I'll give it a little bit more driving time with this truck, but I'm thinking I may go back to my dealership and have them order me a MT Tacoma.

Also, that OVTune thread is confusing. Anyone had it done to their truck so I can see what the difference is?

I had the max before the PRO and I would not recommend the max. Terrible OR.

And I think you nailed it as well! Some offroading is INDEED dangerous. Riding fire service roads, mud riding, and trail riding are totally different than hill climbing or slow, steep-graded rock climbing, where you are more apt to roll your vehicle. Knowing the limitations of your gear, your vehicle and your skill level, is all key to having fun and being safe at the same time.

I've ran bald, 3 sets of the old Cooper STTs and they were wonderful on and offroad. Quite for a mud tire, but I got better performance in mud with the old school BFG MTs. I can't speak for the new STT Pros, but I've heard nothing but good stuff. I wish they would bring the old BFG MT tread pattern back, that tire was awesome!

As for the next tires I get, I'm probably gonna try out the new Firestone MT2s. I saw a set in the local tire shop and they have some really DEEP and WIDE voids. Looks like it would perform like a champ in the mud!
