Tuff country and Rough country are the entry level stuff. If you are keeping this truck do NOT use their stuff. At least step up to toytec base stuff. Shouldn't be that much more and you will get a much better product.

Depends what you're using the truck for; will it see much off roading?

A coworker of mine runs that kit, a bunch up spacers and uniball UCA's on 33/1250/18's 18x9 -12 offset wheels.. rubs the cab mount and he tells me all the time it rides like a tank. his words not mine if your on a budget just run some Bilstein 5100's definitely gonna ride better than that spacer kit. if you don't care for a harsh ride just run this kit despite what people tell you on this site its your truck and your money. your the one who's gonna have to live with it. your choice

    Stuff, things, this, an ADS
Easy cheapest decent and most popular on TW is Bilsteins 5100 on. It’s still fairly cheap compared to other lifts like ADS, King, Icon, Fox which are the big boys. You just bought an expensive truck save up and do it right instead of twice. Buy once cry once they say.
SCS are an awesome wheel if you can snag a set.

I would do a non-E rated A/T tire. I'll be going to C rated KO2s on my next purchase. Bad stopping in the rain, but no issues other than that. Even been in moderate (6-10") snow without issue. If you see mud, mine handled themselves pretty well the other day. Didn't want to go mudding, but they worked for it.

I work at a tire shop. I wouldn't run Mastercraft Mxt's.. The Mxt tires are an entry level MT tire they don't tend to wear well. between those two options I'd run coopers

I have the procomp 2.5in lift. Truck looks amazing. Stiff ride though (40 to 55 MPH) which I can live for now until I save up for a full suspension upgrade. Shouldn’t have rushed it but well I’m still living and learning.

More and more terrible advice.... wow.
I don't do any hard core off roading in my... well, 50k+ truck (with upgrades).
I have the tough country leveling lift with the front puck. I have 285x17 Toyo AT2's and, while not doing anything extreme, have got my truck airborn and have hit some hard bumps.... (lol)
Guess what? It's worked great for the $500 installed. If people in this forum want to rock climb and bro out their 40k+ trucks, spend thousands on your lift, that's ok if you're going to use it. If you're not, it's foolish to spend that much.
I've saved 2k+ on my suspension for other upgrades! The suspension I have is... waaaiiitt for it....... wwwwwaaaaaaiiiiit for it...
ALL I NEED. How about that concept? Buying what you need?!?! Huh.....

How's the ride quality versus stock? I wouldn't say it's terrible advice since nothing said is untrue.

I'm not referring to ALL this advice as terrible. Just the parts about the tuff country lifts being garbage or a waste of money. They serve their purpose for specific applications. If you want to show up at a knife fight with a B2 bomber, that's fine but I'd save the 2 billion dollars and just buy a long sword or a 9mm handgun.

The ride... it's stiffer than stock but one thing I continually see completely ignored about ride quality... is tire pressure.
I keep mine at 30 psi COLD. It's more compliant and hasn't had any negative effect on wear characteristics.

They've been installing the tough/rough country lifts since the 2nd gens came out and they've been very durable. I know the manager personally at the location I had the lift installed. He worked his way up from installer to store manager and he said he's never seen one come in broken or in need of repair. They are simple and effective FOR WHAT THEY ARE. Again, I've jumped my truck (uhh, not on purpose) and it's held up. I'm actually under my truck today changing all the fluids and it still looks brand new, lift included. Just to clarify, I have the Tuff Country 52907, 3" Leveling Lift.
If I was going to buy a tacoma for hard core off road, i'd buy a used 2nd gen and would probably spend 3-5k on suspension. However, I don't want to wreck my 50k mall crawler, lol. The tough country lift has been great and has allows me room for the 285 17 tires.
    It's all good :)

I know this is an old thread that was revived, but just to chime in on the spacer lift debate - I've been running the ReadyLift 3/2" spacer kit with 285/70/17s and have done some light off-roading and rides pretty decent all things considered.

I love seeing people spend $4k+ on a lift and they BARELY do any activities that warrant that set up. I paid $200 with free install and take my truck on all different terrains with no issues.
