Agreed, Discount remains to be a no BS place for my tire work.

They mounted larger then standard tires, they worked on ones with spacers (while advising me to remove them), they replaced a damaged TRD wheel fake-lock ring... Top notch service in my book from them all around.

This happened to me yesterday. Had to take my car's rims to a local non chain shop and they did it right away. Didn't even scratch the rims!

I called Tirerack and they had a lst of installers in my area.I called one and ask if they would mount the new tires on new rims. They said yes BUT you have to sign a disclaimer saying YOU accept all responsiblity for any law suits or insurance claims, etc. HMMM

This is so amusing that I can just go to my dealership with whatever size tires, whatever rims and they're like whatever man.

Disclaimers are worth the money they are printed on. You can't sign away negligence. As a small business owner, if a customer walks in and has a request for something that is the least bit out of the ordinary, I have to ask myself, what happens if something goes south, what is my liability and is it worth the risk.
Every business has rules that are driven by experience. Each rule is formulated because of an incident.
I'll bet if the local mom and pop tire shop was sued, whether they won or lost, because the mounted an over sized tire on a rim, they will stop mounting over sized tires.
Or maybe they heard of another business that was sued or maybe they read about it in a trade magazine.

    I was brought alright...
That is why I was skeptical about your statement that Costco will mount everything.
I was denied on many occasions to mount the tire on the wheel, buy +1 tires and the most moronic thing was is arguing that my Prius dont need W rated tires..
I send my wife with all things out to buy +1 tires for Tacoma...

I didn’t say they’d mount everything. I said they mounted what I needed them to and gave me no issues. It was a great experience. My Costco manager also told me he’d mount my plus 1 size (265/75/16) Taco tires on my Rays no problems and said they’d mount upsized tires so long as they don’t rub.

Your local Costco may view it differently and be more by the books as defined by their tire sizing policies. My GTI tires stock were H speed rated and they mounted V rated for me. They also have the following disclaimer:

To help ensure a successful delivery and installation of the right tires for your vehicle, please confirm your vehicle's tire size and load index listed on the Vehicle Information Placard. For your safety, Costco Tire Center technicians will only install tires with a load index equal to or greater to the load index listed on the placard.

It sounds like the customer service varies a lot from store to store. Best of luck.

My local dealer and local tire shops have never given me a hassle with anything. Hell my dealer installed the aftermarket lift kit I gave them no questions asked.

Watching anyone but me do anything to my truck. Oil changes, tire rotation, hell I even hawked the emissions inspector when I went to get my registration done.

I notice that automatic pull through car washes often have cameras installed for this purpose.
