    Hi All

I bought a set of OEM TRD SEMA Rims with Tires that’s have TPMS installed from a 5th Gen 4Runner owner.
Unfortunately, I can’t get the TPMS to reset despite following the reset procedure:
    - ignition to on, engine off
    - reset button
    - I get the the flashing light
    - Drive and the light goes solid, no tire readings

I’ve driven slow, and fast (110Km/h+) for 300 KMS this evening and the light never came off solid and no reading ever occurred “- -“.

Is there something I’m missing? Do I need to reset IDs?

My take off Rims are not in the truck bed so no issues there.

    Thanks!

Needs the tool that actually plugs into the truck so it recognizes the new TPMS. Discount tire tried this nonsense with me when I did a wheel swap with another Tacoma.

I do have access to Techstream on my laptop. Or is this a completely differently program?

Think it is the same, should do the trick.

Dam even if I could figure out the Techstream it looks like I would need the TPMS ID of the sensor which is already installed and on the truck with no way of seeing it....

Yep, I think Discount used the thing they run next to each TPMS and then hooked it up to the OBD2 reader or techstream to let the computer know to pull those sensors info. Should only be $40 and 30 mins at Discount tire if you have one.

I have an Ateq quick set for changing tpms from summer to winter tires. It will read the tpms codes if they are already in the vehicles computer. When I bought the tpms for my winter tires I needed the dealer to give me the codes so I could enter them through the Ateq computer program.

Tacoma uses PMV-C015 and 4Runner uses PMV-107J TPMS sensors. They both are 315MHz Pacific Industrial Sensors but not sure if they are interchangeable.

You'll need those codes to put into Tech Stream. You will also have to tell it which position each sensor is. Toyota had to tear mine down to get the codes.

Uh oh - as in the Tacoma may not read them even if I do get the code?

4Runner TPMS sensors may not be compatible with TPMS receiver on your vehicle. You can enter the TPMS IDs into your ECU but your receiver has to recognize them. You may need to buy the correct TPMS sensors (PMV-C015) like the picture above.

You still have your original sensors?

Yeah - they’re mounted with tires on the stock wheels which I’m trying to sell.

you will need to swap the sensors. you will need the original ones transferred back to the rims you are using now as this issue will not go away

That seems like the tech didnt know what they were doing, they should be able to put the ateq or whatever tool it is next to the TPMS on the tire and it translates the radio frequency / sensor code to the device that then gets plugged into the OBD port, should be no reason to dismount tires or pull out sensors, odd.

You likley need to use the tool to do the re-learn, not just the idiot light flip. Also 3rd Gens have the newer TPMS, not all will work...see my build thread for my "experience".
