i purchased a glock 27 some months ago and have just now found the time to take it to the range and really run some rounds through it..

the ony mod i've done is replace the 5.5# conector with a 3.5# connector.

so after firing 50 or so rounds, i noticed that the trigger wouldn't reset everytime. i ran 30 or so more rounds through it and noticed that at least once every 10 rounds the trigger was failing to reset and return to the foreward position. it always ejects the spent cartridge and chambers the next round ..but the trigger just doesn't reset everytime. i found i could pull the slide back about 1/8" and it would then reset. ..but how/why did it fail to reset after the previous shot had already cycled the slide ..which is supposed to reset the trigger for the next shot? ...i'm having a hard time wraping my head around this. ....i'd think if there were a mechanical problem that it would happen every time ...not just once or twice every 10 or so rounds.

what the hell am i missing?

You put the pins back in in the incorrect order. Disassemble and re-insert the pins in the opposite (backwards) order in which they came out. What is happening is the larger pin is binding on the slide spring and/or the connector. If I was at home I would shoot you a pic. It's a common problem if it is reassembled in correctly. It is possible that the slide spring is already damaged though. Let me know if this fixes your problem.

No problem, if you want to drive to VA, I'd fix it for you! I wouldnt have know exactly what the problem was if I hadnt done the same thing myself.;) I am a Glock Armorer and have fixed/serviced thousands of these pistols in my day. Being that it is a newew pistol, it may be harder for the pins to move in and out properly. The more you remove/insert them the pistol will break in and beomce much easier to work on.

I also should have mentioned that you can test the fix by diring firing and cycling the pistol. Do it a couple of dozen times and see if the problem persist. You won't damage the pistol at all by dry firing it.

SOOOO glad to hear an actual armorer say that! Can't tell you how many times I've dry fired my G32 and had someone tell me I'm damaging the gun. It's not like I do it multiple times a day, just once in a while!

Yeah I know. The design of the Glock pistol is a striker based system, which simply releases pressure off the firing system when disengaging the safety to fire the weapon, as opposed to a hammer based mechanism which puts stress on the firing pin by hitting the pin and forcing it. Some (most) firearms can be damaged by repeatedly dry firing without precautions. Besides that Glocks have rediculously strong components. Your friends are incorrect, and that is further illustrated bythe fact that you have to pull the trigger to disengage the safetys to dissassemble. Glock has no problem with you dry firing their pistols. If you or anyone ever has any issues or questions about your Glocks, please pm me. I would be happy to help, and I promise I have seen it all.

I shoot Glocks in IPSC alot, G20, G22, , G23, G35, G21, a g19 a couple times and even a G27 in one match for fun. I shoot G23 n G27 in IDPA. I shot a lot in the 90s when glock triggers were mostly a home grown science, you modified your own. Those days, you could call Glock yourself and they would send you replacement parts for free, you did not have to be an Armorer. Now days you can buy the stock parts almost anywhere and vendors like Vanek have fantastic drop in packages that do 2 lb almost no pre-travel triggers.

What Shack is saying is something I too came across very early on, thank God I dryfire/empty test fired beforehand and noticed. You have to tuck the slide stop spring under the small pin in the action block upon reassembly.

As for the dry fire thing, hell, I dryfire my glocks for practice sometimes more in a week than I live fire. If dry fire hurt it, ALL my glocks would be broke!

My current trigger is set up with a 3.5 connector, a full polish job of all contact parts-i do them by hand, some like dremels-a lightened striker( Jager makes a great one, full steel and an extended tip) and a full power striker spring. Here in Hawaii, primers tend to be scarce or very expensive, all I have on hand currrently are small rifle or Wolf small pistol, so I have to make sure it goes-BANG- when I pull the trigger. If I had a good supply of Federal small pistol, I would go with a lighter striker spring.

I have personally put downrange over 30k in reloaded ammunition in Glocks, all on my own dime, I have not had one that needed to go to a gunsmith or back to Glock for any fix or modification. That is what I love about them. I did have one defect. The action block had a flaw in the casting/injection molding and cracked after about 5k. Funny thing, it did not malfunction, it kept firing, but I noticed when cleaning it. The flaw was a "bubble" inside that took up about 35% of the area behind the large pin, where the barrel cams downward to unlock out of battery. Considering how many millions Glock has made, and that I have not heard of this happening to anyone else, thats an anomaly to me.

If your slide stop sprig is bent back and damaged, just get another. Thats how I fixed my action block :), call up Glock, they sent me a replacement, pop it in and keep going. Heck, my current Limited10 Glock was box stock on Tuesday, and by Thursday it was match ready-new sights, mag release, trigger work finished and ready to go for Sunday.

Again, that's why I love um. Easy to fix n modify. Oh, and they are reliable, accurate, low bore axis, simple to operate, available in so many configurations and calibers.
Sorry to the OP if I hijacked, but I did contribute some to your original question:)

sorry it took so long for me to report back. ..but the issue has been resolved. ..the problem is that i don't know what the actual fix was. i tore it back down and reassembled it very carefully. since then, i've run about 300 rounds through it with no issue.

    thanks for the help!
