    I love it.
As it is said, there is NO bad weather, only BAD clothing.

No bugs, less people, quiet, more and better spots to set a tent, I can go on and on.

Using up oak firewood this year, stuff I've had in my wood shed for years I've never touched, using other wood like Doug Fir, Lodgepole, other firs, Sugar Pine Glad I had it, nice and warm inside in the morning, lasts longer than Sugar Pine, other wood. 8F here this morning, supposed to maybe get that cold in December or January.

We use oak mostly. But that is an advantage of living 'back east'.

I have five rows of wood 16" length, 78" high in my 8'x12' shed, less than half a row is oak. In the past have not come close to using that much oak over the winter. So this year trying to use it when it is colder instead of being tight and conserving it then having to use it when it is warmer and less btu wood is about out. I have maybe two cords of oak in rounds for future use, don't wanna run out ya know. At this rate, those two cords will last over 5 years and I have more spotted in the woods.

We use locust or ash when it is cold here.
We do like a good stack of wood.

I think Tennessee and Kentucky are actually getting worse than we are Carl. I look at the national weather radar and there has been a big blot of rain sitting down there for days. It moves east but is staying south of PA thankfully. My yard is still a swamp after all of last year's weather.

I sent a small stove tool to a guy in Arizoner, should have been delivered the last couple days, tracking shows a weather delay. Guess three feet of snow will do that, but in Arizona?

    Evening all:

Yes, so far a lot of the winter storms have skirted us. My lower yard is no different, it is that swampy that I never got to mow part of it last year and may not be able to get at it this year.

Had too mow for the 3rd time this winter. Not complaining. I do sympathize with the rest of y'all, though. My battery powered mower works great. ☺

It's a Greenworks mower. Used it again today for the little strip of grass between the sidewalk & curb. The neighborhood oak trees are shedding like mad. Where's the street sweepers? LOL

It grows more than my grass. Fired my lawn mover up once last year, may need to reseed some of it.

    Morning all:
I was reading about the ice piling up also, interesting and not that unusual. Was also reading about hundreds of ice fishermen being stranded on Mills Lac and Lake of the woods. Looks like they plow roads on the ice for people to drive out on the lake with ice shanty's to fish, then it got that windy that the snow drifted and made it impossible to drive back to shore on those roads, some of the people were out as far as 25mi. They are in the process of trying to open the roads and are using snowmobiles to supply gas, propane, etc. to anyone that needs it to survive, worse thing is that most say the fish aren't biting!

    Good morning Susan, gang,
Power went off last night after midnight, out in town too. Worst storm I've seen here. Generator is going, lots of limbs down on my property. While letting Repo out, heard three limbs or trees coming down in my neighborhood. Had a dental appointment, they called and cancelled due to no power. Will have to go to town later for groceries. Chain controls in the county, even at lower elevations, town is 3400'. Hunker down. At least this isn't a ice storm, but a heavy, wet snow, ground is sloppy. Last night had to clear the dish for my TV every 20 to 30 minutes.
