The sequoia master should swap direct with all models but off road/pro

As long as you run 17” wheels you can do this swap.

O, the brake swap was done quite a while back. I was just curious about the master cylinder.

Ah ok, the sequoia is plug and play for the most part. Not sure if it will make a difference but they reccomend this when folks add Theie rear disc setup.

Have you come across anyone that just sells the adapter plate? 170 is steep for that little plate

Not doing a rear disk swap, just want a firmer feel/less travel than with the stock master cylinder when I do the 4-runner front brake swap onto my '13 Sport.

Add stainless lines. Going to a bigger madter won’t always give you a firmer feel. If I find it. another lost that went work a bigger setup and reverted back.

after doing a little bit of online research, stock Tacoma (2005+, Non Off-Road) Master cylinder is 13/16" bore, single reservoir, uses 2 holes for mounting to booster, and has M12 x 1.0 brake line fittings. Toyota Tundra (2006+) has a 1" bore, single reservoir, 2 holes for mounting, and M12 x 1.0 brake line fittings. It would appear at first glance this would be a simple improvement to move more fluid with the same stroke length to the larger brake caliper volume needed.

EDIT: no beuno for direct replacement. mounting holes are 90 degrees opposite, ports on opposite side.

I’m putting together a list of parts needed to do this to my 2009 Tacoma TRD sport. I’m using the OEM 17” Sport wheels but I have 1.25” spacers installed and based on what I’ve read, this should fit. Can anyone confirm that before I pull the trigger?

Also, other than a set of stainless front lines, does the below list include everything I’ll need to do the 5th Gen upgrade on my truck?

NAPA Eclipse Calipers (14 WA cast)
    $96.49 EA + $16.67 core
    L caliper (SE6830)
    R caliper (SE6829)

    OEM Part Numbers:

#04465-60320 - Front Brake Pad Set
    #00475-1BF03 - OEM Brake Fluid
    #43512-60191 - Brake Rotor x2
    #47781-60140 - Backing Plate
    #47782-60140 - Backing Plate

09TRDSport, add Napa part# UP 83106A, brake hardware kit when you get the calipers. The T4R calipers are wider so the pad holding pins are longer. Most parts stores don't stock them, found out the hard way, but got lucky at O'Reillys.

not 100% on the spacers but based on aftermarket offsets should be fine. 1.25 puts you right around some common aftermarket setups.

Yeah, I’m effectively running a 17x7.5 inch wheel with a -2 offset with the spacers installed.

And this is what makes it hard for me to decide between 4th and 5th Gen T4R parts... I know the 4th Gen setup will fit but it sounds like I’d be hoping the 5th Gen setup fits with spacers. And if the 4th Gen calipers didn’t have issues with seizing I’d probably have already bought them. I just have no desire or need to change my wheels and want to make sure I get something that will work with the stock 17” setup.

The factory Tacoma wheels will fit the 5th gen calipers with the spacers. The difference in factory wheel offset is for the brake calipers. Tacoma has a 30mm offset and 4Runner has a 15mm offset. So all you need is 15mm but they are much harder to come by. Probably have to have them built by BORA and then you would have to make sure the wheels you are running have the recessions in the mounting surface to allow for the factory stud to have room to protrude into the mounting surface of the wheel.

Ok, that makes me feel better. I already have the spacers installed and I’d rather use the 5th Gen parts for roughly the same cost as the 4th Gen setup. I’ll order the parts and post results when I’m done!

Did you get the Napa Eclipse SE6830 & SE6829? The pictures and description say that they come with the hardware.

Those are the two part numbers I have in my cart. I don’t mind spending the extra $10 on hardware, just in case. I’d rather order everything and have too many parts than not enough.

I am about to order everything I need to do the swap. I am also going to order the new factory hard brake lines that go from the caliper to my SS soft lines though. Brake tube #7: 47317-60131 and Brake tube #8: 47314-60311. I am also going to go with the TRD brake pads PTR09-89111 and DBA 427365 rotors.

I added the hard brake lines and swapped the TRD pads in my cart from my local Toyota dealer. Ordering those online then picking the parts up just down the street from work saves me money versus having things shipped to the house. Now I just need to buy all the parts. Still haven’t found stainless lines though. Don’t really need extended and can’t seem to find stock length anywhere. The closest I’ve found are 2” longer than stock...

Looks like my total cost with the more expensive TRD pads is going to be around $580 minus the core charges to NAPA. I was budgeting $550 so that’s in the ballpark. I’ll just need to find some stainless lines and pickup some brake fluid.

Do you know if the stock Tacoma hard brake lines will work with the upgraded calipers, or did you just replace them for safe measure?
