Need some advice. Been looking and thinking a couple of months. I was all set to get an OR even with an auto, but some recent posts have got me wondering if I would like the suspension.

    Here are my preferences/uses:

Favorite color is Cav Blue, then Cement, then Barc Red. Gray is OK. Black or White would be a last resort for me (though I’ve had both recently...)

I really really want a manual. The problem is that only about 20% of local cars are MT, and most of those are Sports. The few manuals in the OR available locally are either not in a color I like or Uber-expensive (optioned out the wazoo).

Oh yeah, my price point is in the mid-30’s. I don’t need a lot of bells and whistles like a sunroof, but sure as heck would like heated seats, cause this was a cold winter (blizzard outside right now). I wouldn’t mind having Apple Car Play, but not sure I can wait on the 2020’s, and even then it would be a long time before they would be discounted.

I don’t care about power seats.

I will be driving to/from work 30-40 miles a day, pulling a 2700# camper from time to time, hauling wood and lumber, etc. No major off-roading, except maybe camping off of gravel or dirt roads. Therefore I’m not sure I would appreciate or even want the OR suspension and rear locker. Frankly some posts about the soft OR suspension have put me off a bit...I do a lot of road driving, and come from performance cars—BMW, Subaru WRX and now an MX5–and the idea of a lot of roll and sway while on the highway is not appealing. Maybe I would learn to live with it? It is a truck after all.

We had an Avalanche a few years ago that was great for what it did. Very nice ride up front, but the back seat was not a pleasant place to ride.

Anyway, I know this comparison gets posted periodically and there are a gazillion replies out there. Just wondering if anyone would recommend one or the other for me, given my preferences noted above. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Your title means you've seen other threads about this. Stop being lazy and go read them.
You are knowingly creating a troll war. You should be ashamed.

Edit. Sounds like you need a full size 2wd drive truck. Possibly a Ford F-150?

I got the 2019 Off Road Long Bed AT, suspension is great, my 2012 SR5 4x4 4 banger AT was worse than this truck, sounds like you will have to special order a truck to get just what you want

It's a good thing you don't like or care about powered seats... no models offer them yet.
If it's a sport and 4x4 it wont have a rear locker.
You can make the dealer take off all the add ons as well. Dont be such a push over customer.

You just need to go test drive a bunch of Tacomas. Test drive the manual. Test drive the automatic. Test drive an OR and Sport. Then test drive both of them again. Head out on the interstate. Try to find a spot with hills. Try to drive through a place with a lot of stop signs to get a feel for the manual vs automatic in a stop and go situation.

But most importantly, just listen to your gut and what get what YOU want, not what other people tell you. If I were you I would completely forget about anything you heard about Sport vs OR, manual vs auto, etc.... and just drive them all. Find the one that you enjoy the most and get it. Don't be afraid to spend the time to test drive multiple times.

Test drive, test drive, test drive! Then choose!

At the end of the day, ANY one you choose will be great.

4Runner limited stock suspension is just straight sex. Is the SR5 the same setup?

No and the limited has the all time 4x4 like the land cruiser so that’s boss as hell. I wish the SR5 had that

I heard the Ridgeline has a much friendlier and informative online community as well as being the best looking truck on the market. OP should really go test drive one

Money wise, it makes more sense to get the off road. I got the Sport because I got what I wanted for looks and didn't care about the better bang for your buck aspect. You can get the Off Road and look on the marketplace for a take off sport suspension set up. If you are looking to make some quick cash, get the Sport and post up your hood in the hood swappin thread, you could probably get a hit real quick for a trade plus 4-500 dollars cash.
At the end of day, I really like my Sport and am happy with my decision. I do like the suspension on it and highly suggest a long test drive, its not for everyone.

    Well that didn’t take long.

If I wanted an F-150 I would have posted on an F-150 forum. If I wanted a Ridgeline, ditto. I like the Tacomas for the same reason all you fanboys do.

In the hundreds of other posts I read, I admit I might have missed something pertaining to my particular preferences. OTOH, if I had wanted to start a troll war, I would have tried harder.

I will put you down for no opinion on Sport vs OR re’ my particular circumstances.

Obvious answer for you is the sport... you answered your own question. Most folks (forum members excluded), who don’t OR won’t use crawl or locker except to experiment with.
