Intro to fitting 35s (< 3" Lifts for those that wheel and love alignments)

Honestly if you're going back and forth eventually you'll probably stick with one size. By the looks of things the rpm variation is negligible. Reading though joe and others experiences with it though if you're running heavier extras plus 33 and up size 529 is the spot. Probably cant go wrong with 488 either, but I'm guessing eventually one tire will be the constant size and not back and forth eventually.

 

Instead of wasting gas doing this, you can remove your coilovers jack one tire up and check for rubbing that way

 

Ya I’m not pulling a coilover. Not gonna save gas anyway with 35s anyway!

But it’s a fair point.

 

Pulling a coil over takes 15 minutes. And you get to test fitment through the whole range of travel

 

And an alignment

 

Uhmm. No. Not if you’re just pulling the coil overs off

 

If you make any height adjustments the. Yeah you’ll need another alignment. But spending the 15 minutes taking the coilovers on and checking fitment that way is way more worth the time and effort you’ll spend checking for rubbing going over speed bumps unless the speed bumps are going to be the extent of your wheeling.

 

Come on over. Takes me way longer than 15 minutes to pull a coilover. Grossly over exaggerating.

 

Hahahaha. Way longer than 15 minutes. 15 minutes would be me pulling out jack, jacking up truck, placing jack stands, take off wheel, 15 minutes are up.

Plus if you are doing this correctly you take off coilover, de pressurize coilovee, remove coilover, replace coilover, cycle travel, do whatever, reverse above.

Eff that.

 

Fine, I guess if you want to count taking getting a jack, putting it up on jack stands add another 15 minutes. If you have the tire off its only 4 bolts and 1 nut for the spindle (6 with reservoirs).

Why would you even remove any of the nitrogen from the coil over to take it off? Have you tried pulling off your coil overs before?

I have some time tomorrow, I can pull one of my coiler overs off and record it.

This is all besides the point. Driving it around on the street isn't going to tell you where you're rubbing when you're off road and actually flexing the truck out. Unless you're really just intending on not taking it off road I guess that's fine and it works.

Im by no means saying your method is wrong but when I'm cutting I prefer to actually see where Im rubbing and not making guesses about where I am actually rubbing and for how simple it is to actually take a coil over off its really a no brainer to me.

 

No. I’ve never removed a coilover...ever.

Look at my post again. You de pressurize to cycle the suspension with the coilover, minus coil, installed. Probably over kill for a regular ol, mid travel kit though. I did it with mine to set bumps and the bypass shocks.

 

Sure, thats one way to do it to if youre setting hydros, but hydro bumps weren't mentioned here. And this conversation was regarding trimming for wheel fitment...

Also pretty sure you can cycle your suspension with nitrogen in the coilover.

You obviously didn’t read the post. It’s an intro and has nothing to do with testing for offroad. That’s the the advanced section.

I’ll probably do a separate thread rather than post so people can ask intro questions in one and advanced questions in the other

 

Still doesn't get around the fact that you'll be guessing where you're cutting and how much to cut

 

I didn’t guess and knew where to cut.

 

You seem hurt bud. Like I said multiple ways of doing it. One way being more accurate and precise

35's? How about 44's?
