What would Jesus do? Trade in for a manual, or pick up this BRZ for $11,500?

I once had a manual Tacoma and an automatic sports car. Now I have an automatic Tacoma and a manual sports car. Now is better. I'd definitely say getting the car in addition to your truck is better than taking a ~$6K loss trading your truck in.

Why would you trade in if you don't mind your truck? What are you just bored and want to spend your way out of boredom? Why don't you just go do something fun instead?

You only live once. If you want a manual then get a manual. Money comes and goes man. Being happy is what is most important.

The BRZis decent but nothing to really write home to Granny about. I say go manual or keep what you have.

Yeah, I ran this question by a financial advisor after talking 401k, Roth IRA and HSA numbers, and the 3-5k loss would be negligible in the grand scheme of retirement and all that if all things in life are held constant, which hopefully is a conservative assumption since I have a solid 35 years of work ahead of me before I’d even have the opportunity to retire.

I’ll have something manual in my driveway soon, and hopefully it’s a taco

I’m glad you addressed that comment. I didn’t want to get drama started but that comment made me a little irritated also.

Which portion of my question is the “feel good” purchase?

How does it end up bad in the end?

Dave Ramsey, how can I retire at 25?

Doesn’t sound impulsive to me. Seems like you are weighing your options and asking for others thoughts while you make a decision.

No matter what you do in the end someone will say it wasn’t the best decision so I say just do what feels right after making your mind up.

What are you even talking about dude.

I asked for opinions on a BRZ vs. a manual truck, not financial advice from the peanut gallery.

That being said, if you’re going to offer financial advice at least offer a criterion or reasoning.

Don’t just tell me I’m being a financial idiot?
