Hadn't thought about limiting shackle swing too. That makes sense. 45 deg is probably the best angle then?

Can you elaborate as to why? Only reason I ask is cuz my table is small and pretty basic and doesn’t have a THC. It’s manual torch height. I haven’t noticed any reason why the manual has been bad. But I don’t have anything to compare it to haha. I figured since you’re cutting one thickness it doesn’t really matter to have a Z axis. But enlighten me please cuz I don’t know a whole lot yet. Still having fun learning my machine

@Basikbiker I just got one of those Langmuir Systems Crossfires. It’s really awesome. I bought it cuz it was super cheap and I couldn’t resist it. I’ve been using it lately for slider fill plates but have a bunch of crap I wanna make. It’s very easy to use which is great. It’s a small table. Only 2x2 table but I don’t really have the space for anything bigger anyways. It has an open gantry which is nice so you can load larger plate than the table footprint. I’m using a hypertherm powermax 30 XP

Here’s a couple pics of the fill plates and sliders

Smaller the table, the less important it is, my table Isn’t big its approximately 4’x4’. It does not currently have a thc (I have the parts but haven’t installed them). If I’m cutting medium sized parts or small parts nested in a smaller area of the table it’s fine, but I can’t next a full sheet and burn it at once without seeing changes in tolerances do to torch heights at different corners of the table. It’s not bad, but for cnc it should be pretty spot on. With a thc I won’t have to set torch to height every time I set zeros, the machine could automatically do it. I think for cut quality and consumable life a thc is well worth it, and when I upgrade tables it will be one of the more important factors in my purchase.

Well said! Thanks for educating me. Makes a lot of sense. Being that my table is only 2x2 I’m hoping it’s not something that really matters too much.

For stuff like what you’re doing Ryan you’re good to go. The only stuff I’d had issue with that couldn’t be avoided by nesting a smaller batch of parts was some larger 16ga sheetmetal drawers that had smaller holes around all the edges.

Yeah get one very handy and good investment, we had one in shop before the laser tables, i think it was a 4x8 or 10
It was hypertherm. Only sucks about cleaning parts and water in table.

    get one lol.
i had a torch mate setup, worked great. how big are you going? bigger the better. dont cheap out on the plasma (get the hypertherm) make sure you have clean dry air and spend the time to get your fees and amps correct for each thickness material. having the ahc is super nice too
