My boy Simon turned 3 years old yesterday and is 100lbs and Kodi is 4 months and 40lbs. They are half brother and sister with the same mom.

They are both Shiloh Shepherds (Best breed of dogs I've ever known). They started in the late 70's with a GSD and Alaskan Malamut to get them back to where the GSD was in the early 1900's. They are considered their own breed, but they are not part of the AKC; so they have their own registry (ISSDC). They have a lower prey drive, straighter backs (lower chance of hip dysplasia), and are usually taller and bigger than a GSD. They are very low temperament wise, with many doing therapy, search and rescue, and service dog work (They usually shy away from guard/protection work so that they don't get a bad reputation, since the breed is still young, but they do look the part and can do it too). They are usually very good with kids and other dogs (I've been in a hotel conference room with over 30 that were all just chilling out and a back porch with about 20 all howling together because one of them heard a Luke Perry song come on the radio). Most breeders put their dogs through extensive medical checks (hip/elbow xrays, DNA, halter monitor, etc) and only breed (usually after the dogs are 2-3 years old) once a year or two when there is enough interest.

AED44446-A239-4C35-995A-4F12270E91F0.jpg This is Sam, He was a service Dog for his Elderly humans. They both passed away and the Son took Sam to the Animal Shelter. Sam is going blind and his age made him hard to adopt. I was at a meeting at the Shelter and the Director had Sam in her office. She told me the back story. I told my Daughter and Her and my Son in law agreed to take him. He is a lab/chow mix and such a good dewd. He will live out his years now at my Daughters house.

Good for you. You would think that the original owners kid would be so grateful that this dewd would be treated like a king in his senior years. You are so self involved nowadays. Anyway, happy for the old guy to be in a great place for his senior run...

From what I understand the Son had or has a Drug problem so Sam is better off with my Daughter. After my Daughter has Her Baby, Sam may come live with me. He has had some good training He will actually come up and tell you he needs to go out to do his business.

I got lucky with this dog
A young guy bought him for 1000 and threw him away 3 days later I found him on the street
    found the owner
he said he dosent want him anymore because of the whining so that’s how I got him for free
Turned out to be Really smart and loyal dog
