Having heated seats installed on the cloth buckets next week (it was part of the deal) and am wondering if anyone has installed the switches in areas other than the side of the seat. I find this area hard to reach when the door is closed and imagine with my winter gear it will be even harder.

    Thanks!

I know someone installed heated seat switches below the center arm rest in the center console. They drilled a few holes into it and put them in. I believe it was with a leather seat cover install thread but I'm not sure where it is now.

I have OE seat heaters, and this is where Toyota put the switches. I can take a photo if you like.

I wonder if there's a way you could get the Toyota switches and wiring from a Canadian dealer parts department...

Pics would be great...but, there are no OE seat heaters for the tacoma unfortunately. most likely you have a set from seatheaters.com or some other aftermarket company that was dealer installed.

Canada has OE Seat heaters optional.

Correct-o-mundo. They come with the TRD Sport/Leather package. Not sure which other trim levels get them, but they are Toyota.

Here's a pic. The tiny round buttons to the left of the ash tray (which I use for keys) are them. They're 3-position switches with LEDs that indicate which setting you're using, but the switches themselves aren't illuminated.

I place mine under the HVAC controls and it works really well.

I have since moved the switches 180 degrees so the LED is at the bottom making it easier to see.

Hope this gives you another option.

Thanks for the replies and pictures!

I asked to have them installed in the two dead switches at the front of the center console. My second choice was to have them just under the shifter location. As I was talking to the sales guy he didn't know if #1 would be feasible, I said I would pay a little extra if its done that way.

Ill know how it was done when I get back from Thule Greenland in two weeks :)

I put mine on the raised rails on either side of the cubby underneath the cigerette lighters. I wont have time to post pics till next week. Sorry. When you take out the center arm rest and cover of the gear shift knob, just keep going and you can pull the whole thing out. Flip it over and you just have enough space to get a hole saw in there.

PM me if you need but like I said not till next weekcan I reply. Heading to Lake Mac in NE.
