Had an 86 Mazada 626, after the first oil change I’m driving down the hwy and notice smoke. Pulled over in time to see the last bit of oil draining out. Dealer refilled it and I drove that car another 200k miles with no issues. Guess I was just lucky.

My local dealership has "Highly trained service technicians" who appear to be still in high school. When they tell me to wait in the customer lounge I nod politely and head out where I can watch them work on it. So far the kids have done pretty well.

My friend drained his 2018 Forester tranny by mistake . He called dealer , they said whatever you do dont start the car . He had to get a flat bed tow to dealer . It's not just as easy as pouring new tranny oil in . His dealer bill was around $300 . All good now I guess cause he never started the car .

If I did that to someone's personal property I would be getting sued the same day . Why should they get away with it ? And then to top it off they are going to lie lie lie to the OP

That’s good to know for a lot of owners.

As for the engine, I’ve researched how much oils says in the engine when you drain it plus the filter. For some engines with 6+ Qts an entire quart will stay in the engine. Not sure on the 3.5L Tacoma.

This is why I do my own oil changes.

Already had a Toyota dealer fuck up an oil change on a Toyota.

    I simply don't trust them.

I'd really expect that any real damage will be known in the next few thousand miles if that. Extended warranty would see it through the "test" period.
