If the crankshaft came into contact with the oil reservoir in the pan the high speed rotation will turn the liquid oil into froth causing the oil pump to not be able to siphon and distribute the oil thru the engine if that’s the case that motor is junk. Any froth (bubbles) on the dipstick?

This is why I NEVER go to the dealerships due to the utter incompetence of the "so called" technicians. Had a friend get his oil changed at Jeep dealership and he drove off with -0- oil in crankshaft. Got back to the dealer who told him all was OK. NOT! He ended up with a free extended warranty to cover any future issues. Sorry for your mishap, it unfortunately is common.

After reading this there is no way the dealer is touching my truck unless it’s a warranty issue ! And I still would be peeking thru glass to watch mechanic

From a financial view, there are some that will not buy new and take that drive off the lot hit.

Welcome OP. My local dealer screwed up on my first oil change too, but not like this. They will never see my truck again unless it's warranty/recall related.

I have a 2013 Tacoma, and a 2017 4Runner all of the free oil changes were completed at the dealer. I never left the lot without lifting the hood and inspecting everything and checking the level on the dipstick, I also looked under both of them with a flashlight each time. All but one time I found things I was not happy with and they were corrected before I left the lot.
I have alway's done my own maintenance but I was not going to let free oil changes go to waist.

I understand theres more in the trans but the proper level is there for a reason. if the pan is empty thats way below the proper amount to keep everything lubed, at right pressures etc., what Im saying you are going to have shifting problems, surges, slippage etc and more problems, if it even moves. like these articles...

On the same topic. I realized today that the shop that did my alignment, removed my TRD skid plate and accompanying skid plate spacers required to get a proper fit on the two front most mounting bolts. This is an extremely reputable shop that does amazing alignments for lifted trucks and even provides a 6mo warranty all for $73. But the tech didn’t replace my spacer washers (about 1inch thick) to help keep the front skid mounted and now I have to go buy some. Just a reminder that anyone touching your truck other than you is often somewhat of a headache.
