Ahh... yeah I’m not opposed to drilling holes but I’ve been looking for a cheap temporary setup for my tent until my friend can help me build a rack. Those bars looked great and they’re cheap but I don’t wanna drill holes for something I’m gonna use for a coupe months...

What about using camper shell clamps?

So I bought a set of Yakima bedrocks but they’re not the sturdiest things in the world. They’re rated for like a 185lb dynamic load and the tent is 125lbs so they should be fine... but they kind of sketch me out a bit.

Exactly my thoughts haha... that’s why I was trying to find some other non-intrusive solution... although if I had 4 of these bedrock things I’d feel more comfortable with the weight spread out on more supports.

4 might work. Could always be ghetto and throw some 2x4 across and c-clamp them down.

Are You not gunna run your softshell anymore?
Or gunna have a rock sit low with the tent so you can run the shell over it.

Plan right now is to ditch the softopper setup, unfortunately because it does look cool and is useful. I’m going to build a rack to set the top of the tent at cab height for now. I have seen pictures of a second gen that had a tent stowed under a softopper which interests me... we’ll see I guess

I dunno if there's a bed rack that doesn't require drilling, especially one that can hold the weight of an RTT...how else could you mount one?

I really like the rack but you do end up compromising bed space quite a bit with the low profile one. But I like the look of the low profile much better than the ones that put the tent over the top of the cab.

My friend has his shittybilt rtt mounted to a Yakima bedrock system and he said it was fine... so I bought a set off Craigslist and they seem pretty flimsy :notsure:

Huh, that's pretty cool I didn't know there was a low profile rack that didn't require drilling/bolting...kinda wish I had known about that a year ago lol.

I mean this whole thing is super temporary... my friend just doesn't have time to help me build a rack until May and I have a couple trips I want to do before then... so I'll probably just yolo it with the bedrock shit

The Low Range Offroad bed bars are really cheap and low profile. Requires side drilling but that's kinda what than bedrail is for.

god damnit... if their build dates weren't pushed all the way out until April 2020 I would be way more persuaded to impulsively put down a deposit after a few (many) beers...
