Yes, that's 3k on a 10k truck. I feel as though it's not worth 10k if you have to do a major overhaul on the engine shortly. This whole "Toyota reliability" is just a bunch of hype. If I bough this truck and had to do timing chain, head gaskets, wheel bearings, and ball joints, then what's the point? There's a point at which Toyota trucks are worn out. If you buy a relatively low mileage one with no known major issues, maintain it yourself and get 300-400k out of it, then it's worth it.

If you're buying someone elses used truck, and you don't know what they've done with it, and it's a model year with known problems, then it's really not worth it. I still question my purchase of a 90K Tacoma, and wonder if I should have paid for newer.

This is the dilemma with my wife that with the cost to replace things and Toyota resale buying new isn’t a bad option, but it is a 35-40,000 investment

When I bought my '06 new, they had allegedly fixed the head gasket issue. I got an advisory that it affected up to a certain month, and mine was made later in the year. Not saying it cant happen, but so far so good.

I just purchased mine 7 months ago with 120k for $11.5. That one your looking at is way over priced in my opinion.

I have a '06 too that was manufactured on 6/'06, do you know when Toyota changed the motor mounts?
Mine is a 2.7L which seem to have less of a problem than the 4.0L.

Most roads are paved, so dirt roads are classified as "off" road to me, now if you aren't on a road I call that being in an accident or a safari/Bushwhacking.

I bought a 2002 tundra before for 1000 bucks. Had about 300k on it. Timing was slightly off but it ran. Fixed the timing by moving the cam back a tooth and sold it for 2500

This guy either has a shopping mental disorder or that last statement is a lie.

Look at the paint job. That will tell you if its been wheeled.

I have zero problems with older vehicles. It is cheaper to repair old vehicles than it is to buy a new one. Plus I just love keeping older things around as long as practical.

    Buy it.
But LOL on having all those highly expensive mods and not wheeling.

Seriously, I don't think people understand how expensive a brand new tacoma is...

I love it when people don’t buy a $10,000 older Tacoma because of age and repairs but they’ll blow $45k on a new TRD Pro.

Not sure what regular repairs equate to $35k but OK LOL

Those add-ons are typically indicators of ABUSE. Their presence should subtract from the value of the vehicle, not add to it.
Says "never been off roaded"... then why does it have a heap of offroad parts added to it?
And don't forget that its not just the price of the vehicle, you also need to consider the cost of restoring it to a state where it can actually be driven safely.
I wouldn't buy that vehicle, except maybe if I was in the scrap business, and it would have to be priced below scrap.

My head gasket started leaking. Blue Devil fixed it. I have a spare engine though with under 100K for when I need it though

    THIS.

I can fix a LOT of stuff for the price difference between an 05 and a 2019. I think $10k for this truck is nowhere near as crazy as $45k for a brand new one.
