I don't see how it wouldn't! The trails would be a little wider, and maybe we wouldn't avoid some difficult terrain a bike might, but the whole idea behind how to build a trail to reduce wash-out and maintenance should still be similar! Also, the more people with experience the easier it would be to break into small teams and get things done efficiently.

 

I'm not a smart man, but I know what love is how to pick things up and put them down.

 

Agreed...I may tape ankles for a living but I sure know how to lift shit, dig holes, and operate a skid steer.

 

Sounds like you guys will be able to help get some trails going no problem. Now I just gotta come through on the land. Should have an update by mid-spring on how things might develop.

HELP

Having trouble getting inspected due to my lift. I need someone with a stock Accesscab 4x4 (2nd gen) to measure from the ground to the lowest part of the drivers side door. They need this to figure out how much more lift I have over stock and apparently MA doesn't have a spreadsheet or anything for them to check against.

Geeze, how much lift does your truck have?

 

Just the 2" OME lift and I have a ton of weight so it's no where near that tall, also 33s but still

 

I've been there twice and going back a few more times this year. Not for off-roading activities, but for Spartans/Tough Mudder events. A lot of the course goes on the off-roading trails and they are well built. There is surprisingly a decent amount of varifying terrain type there; rocks, sand, hills, mud.

 

Sounds like you'd prefer someone with a very modestly lifted 1st gen as in, slightly lifted but most people wouldn't notice

What criteria is he trying to fail you on and why is it your responsibility to prove how much the vehicle is lifted? Isn't that the whole point of an independent safety inspection?

 

I think 2" is legal in Mass. I also don't think tires count as part of the lift

 

you're allowable lift is based on a calculation. That calculation allows me 3.6" in mechanical lift and I am also allowed the same in tire size increase. So I can do 3.6" in suspension and go from 31's to 34's

 

The height of the lift, he thinks it's fine but is worried about liability since he doesn't know the stock height. I even brought them all the regulations to look over but when they called the state inspector (or whoever) they said they don't have a spreadsheet or anything that lists the stock heights to compare mine to. Which is crazy because that leaves the inspection stations with no way to verify if I'm legal or not.

 

Yea I'm for sure legal, but they somehow don't know how to verify that. There is another thread on here that give you all the details on how much is legal in MA so I know I'm good.

 

The way I understood it, it was combined lift, tires and suspension. I just put stock size tires back on and got a sticker

 

There is a separate rule for 4x4 vehicles under 10,000 lbs called 540 CMR 6.00 based on that formula my access cab can have 3.6" of lift or something close to that plus another 2" of tire lift.

 

where abouts are you located? I used an inspection station in Raynham. Though I don't have aftermarket bumpers and am lifted about 2.5" and only on 32s he didn't bother me one bit about it.

 

Can you just take it somewhere else and be done with that particular garage? If he pulled it in, started an inspection and couldn't finish it, he should have either given you an R sticker, a valid sticker or hold the truck and make you repair it so he's already running in his own little gray area.

 

Right, which is what I refering to. Last time I read the laws it sounded to me like combined lift. Either way right now I'm on 3" of lift and 35s
