Need Lower control arms with ball joints for 2009 tacoma

Hi I have a 2009 access cab base model 4cyl 4x4

115,000 miles

I got new uca's and a set of trd off road shocks coils and leafs off an '18 with 100 miles on them for a good deal on craigslist.

I'm also replacing the rotors and pads because the previous owner didn't keep up with the last brake job and let the rotors get bad.

The toyota service records say the wheel bearings are new as of 100,000 miles so those are staying. But if I'm making everything else new I think I should go ahead and do the LCA's now too.

The truck spent some time in PA, and Ohio, so the original LCA is rusty, otherwise I'd just replace the balljoint.

I would rather have oem than aftermarket for that part i think??. I will be doing mostly highway/ around town with weekend trips to the mountains, off road a little but just camping trails, no swamping or crawling.

The dust shield is also very rusty wondering if I should even put that back on or get a new one?

My lca’s are around 10k miles old and I should be getting new ones in a few weeks when my frame is replaced so you could buy mine.

Don’t know where you’re located but I believe there will be leaf springs as part of the replacement so those will be up for sale too just not shipping. Those are like 20-30k miles.

I’m in Colorado. When’s your frame getting replaced? I kinda need to do this brake job sooner than later and I’m looking to do the whole front end in one go.

 

Yeah I hear you, I hate taking apart the front end more than I have to. I’ll call Toyota in a minute for an update.

 

If your OEM LCA ball joints and such are not bad, I'd keep going with them. Like you said, you'd rather have OEM. Maybe search around and see if you get lucky on some lower mileage takeoffs or something someday.

I only replaced mine since the LCA cams were seized. Have you verified yours are still good to go? If not, you will be cutting them out anyway. Then in that case, you are probably going aftermarket unless you really want to drop money into them. Based on your description of rust, I bet they are going to need cut out unless you've been in there with antiseize before

Brake shields are relatively dirt cheap...however to get them off you have to unbolt the hub so seems like an undue PITA.

 

They’re getting a shipment of frames this Friday so that’s the soonest I’ll have an update.

 

Ended up dropping it off this evening, my frame just got delivered.

They will replace lcas and not leafs.

On another note I hate the RAV4 they gave me!
