When I go to get on the freeway sometimes I notice the transmission doesn't shift normal it seems. It seems to want to shift at a higher then morning RPM.

So I just give it a little more gas and finally it shifts.

I tend to only notice this when I am getting on the freeway. Any thoughts?

I have about 40,000 miles on it and it has always done it. Never taken it in doesn't seem to affect anything.

Really, I have never heard of that.

I do tend to notice it more when I am going down the on ramp to get on the freeway. It is a steeper on ramp

Yep that's why it's doing it. Use cruise control if you want exaggerated shifts. Going up hill it will often drop one or two gears.

Good afternoon everyone I'm new in this forum and I hope to find answers to my problem.
2008 Tacoma TRD Sport. Just came back from a road test, here are some results: if on the automatic mode the gears change as they should. If I put the shifter in L and leave it there, the trans. will shift by it self ( like it was on D) up to the 4th not higher. Than, once it reach the 4th, if I move the shifter up, there is no difference until I reach the 3th, than the revolution increase because it downshift from 4 to 3. And when manually shifted the dashboard lights, that indicate the shifter position, are not working for the L and the 2.
