Air Tank Mount Bracket(s)

Any of our vendors make an air tank bracket that spans the frame either behind the rear bumper or in front of the spare tire?

 

I’d also be interested in this.

It should be fairly trivial and cheap. There's tons of room in front of the rear axle along the frame too. If you made up a cardboard template and brought it to a fab shop you could probably get something made up fairly cheap. You could even splurge for stainless so you don't have to worry about rust or painting.

 

yea, looking for a fabricator now, I have a few options.

LOL! Seriously? A set of brackets should be $100 max. Shit, it's probably 20 minutes of layout from.a good template, 1hr., maybe bit more of cutting and welding, and $20 of material. Thats at worst $50/hr labor for the guy making them.

 

yeah stupid expensive, I need to bite the bullet and go take a welding class.

 

Welding is not that hard. Like anything else it's just about practice, and lots of it. Sure, to get certified and be employed professionally you need more, but I took an adult continuing Ed. class years ago and that alone was good enough for me to do what I need. After that I taught myself how to TIG weld aluminum and made some parts for my motorcycle. Its a valuable skill and the big secret is you don't necessarily have to spend crazy $ on equipment.

Did you find a way to make brackets for the air tank?
I have a longed and want to mount infant of the spare. Thanks for any insight.

 

Don’t have any pics of my install to post, but I have a 2 1/2 gal Viar tank under my truck. It’s nested in the C channel section of the frame on the passenger side and held in place with several large hose clamp bands. The tank feet are facing inboard towards the exhaust/ slightly downward. Right angle fitting off the bottom of the tank takes the hose forward to the air pump under the hood. All the other outlets on the tank are plugged. I wrapped some aluminum tape around the hose as a heat shield where it was close (2-3") to the exhaust. It’s tucked up out of harms way and haven’t had a bit of trouble with it. Been there for over a year.
