Most likely, but it depends on the wiring in the house. Try getting a quote from them and see what's involved.

Also, this has potential and in a much better school district.

yeah but that's only 0.5 acre house.

so I had a quote from a guy to rewire the hole house, give me a new breaker panel, new main line from meter to breaker box, new smoke alarms etc etc. it was like 13k.

these guys are doing my new kitchen and bathroom, all new wiring/switches/lights, I just supply ornate fixtures like ceiling fans/pendant lights (under somebody else so a little markup) for 7k.

Is there a ground wire in the box? Or is the box grounded? Are your neutral and ground wires tied together in the panel?

Are you good at drywall repair?

does it not such to put a lot of money into your house only to see others you'd also like to buy, that you could put money into or not have to put money into... dreamers, I've been looking at zillow a fair amount lately as well.

I think the economy is too good right now. Work is up, and not too many people forced to sell. Today's market is so good I wouldn't even want a contractor or laborer who said they can come out same day, there's a reason they're not busy or booked up for at least a short period.

I'm saving the pennies for next big market downfall. Like election time is when everyone becomes nervous, then if we change presidents we will go through a period of uncertainty.

Pull a plug out and take a picture of it. No need to unwire just pull it out from the box.

Don’t grab both sides at the same time

Or plug a lamp in and flip breakers or pull fuse till it goes off

    Yep!

Ok so no ground wire. (That’s what the mouth of the plug is for)

The box doesn’t look grounded to me either.

Now I’m kinda out of help...I know you can swap them but I’m not totally sure on the code. Could ask your contractor that’s doing your wiring if it’s against any codes. :notsure:

Yeah idk what my options are. I'm going to see if they can match a price I received before to do the whole house and if not then I'll do it myself at a later time.

Code would be to pull new wire in the house. Easiest is to just install new plugs. Just know it will fail an inspection.

If you have a contractor doing it or a smaller operation just make sure they don’t do a bootleg ground, which is where you run a jumper from the ground to the neutral leg. It will fool the tester the inspector plugs into the outlet, but it is illegal and dangerous.
