TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Codes cleared Sunday by @crashnburn80 with his scanner. One permanent exhaust code remained. He found that unusual. A day of driving and no new codes. If you have a 2nd gen later model and think j-bung will solve your full exhaust code issues just wait and read my updates. Not sure if it's a solution. I may need ucon. Tbd.

 

So .. Trd tune with or without the O2 sim ?

Holds codes off longer but need to do more testing. My guess is tighter tolerances from the air injection. This ecu is like my parents. Too high expectations/tolerances.

 

Ovtune ordered!! I got a handheld, for those with one, how many preset tunes come with it?

Just let me know when you are ready to offload those sims. I like the parental reference as well. On the URD website they recommend using the universal sim application instead of the plug and play for 2015s. Which are yours?

Yeah, I've never had a code fail to clear. This wasn't clearing and then coming back, it was clear the codes and and return to main screen with 1 code still remaining while the truck was not running.

 

I get that. Will that same tune be good with my 2.825 pulley to when I go to 2.7?

 

So mine was empty. I had to get the TRD SC tune first from Toyota, then download my ECU onto the handheld. Email the handheld data to Mat and he will get you the OV SC Tune V2. I have heard good reviews, but didn’t download it yet. It is in my inbox. I have 2.8 pulley, prodry air filter and aero motive fuel pump but nothing else, all stock exhaust. There are others on here running smaller pulleys with it.

 

Yes. But you better get a 2.5 just to be safe.

 

And fpr mod?

 

I have not completed the FPR mod, but I know there were discussions on what pulley size it became necessary. I think the OV exceeds the TRD specs and could probably be served better with the FPR mod, but believe this is when you get below the 2.7 pulley.

 

Or get excessive like me and dose it with meth. Clean internals and plenty of fuel.

 

I’m running the fpr mod and 2.5. Just wondered if ov handled it better.

 

Guess I could find out if I switch tunes.
