Our puppy has been on a soy free dog food and meat diet, found out tonight that she loves edamame. She even shells it herself.

I know. Many folks tell me to "just lift it" but that won't turn Little Big Red into a 4 x 4, just a higher up PreRunner.
James has a good price on his stuff, and it was not abused. So that is a good mild package.
You met @MattCowsmasher at HF, and he is like our "scrounge" - he finds all the deals.

From what I read (a lot), James package would likely suit you - I would even consider it. Matt can give you lots of suggestions. But you are going to look at like $1500 or so, and James offered install (an excuse to drink beer locally!). If my wife would not notice it went higher, I'd do it, but I am saving for a secret TruTrac!

I just googled TruTrac...interesting. It sounds like what my truck does in a different way. In 4 low only, if the left tire spins it applies brake to it, which sends power to the other non-moving tire. Toyota's version of TruTrac I guess. It came in handy this last weekend. I noticed it moving me up a couple places.

 

Yup, had a version of that in everyone of the Trucks I’ve had except this one. Matt found me a good deal last fall so I had to go for it. You won’t be disappointed if you decide to get one.

 

I acquired an original sticker at HF this weekend, but for your own truck...I like this...



Although, once my truck gets cleaned up (I'm wearing the filth like a badge of honor for the time being) I'm putting that sticker on the tailgate next to the HF sticker I got on the way out.

 

It is interesting, and my best analogy is that a Tru Trac will "drag my brake" for me with 2WD, so that I won't lose traction on the other wheel. Someone said awhile back, if you are 2WD at the beach, just ride the brake a little, and it forces both wheels in drive. That is all I need for my purposes.

I had an Toyo Elocker (I think) on a 2010 I leased - had a push button I never used. Never needed it. Even when I took it to Michigan in the winter, so I have no experience with it at all!

 

This is the one I needed. Check tho, yours could be different.

 

Thanks, but my 2018 does this by default. It's not gears in the rear end like TruTrac, but it applies brakes to the spinning tire which, by default, sends power to the high traction tire, moving you forward in a bad situation. Toyota's different approach for the same result. It's odd, but it works...I can attest to that after wheeling at HF this weekend. I'm an absolute NOOB to offroading, and Tacoma...loving this thing! It's part mountain goat!

Yes, you should not need the TruTrac with modern 4WD. I'm looking at it on the basis of old 2WD, and feeble memory, though I am pretty sure I can remember to ride the break on the beach (SURF!) This is a simple long term solution that make Little Big Red a good overlander.

 

I keep the reminders side by side! Sadly, never got "liked".

 

I believe that it’s called A-trac, mine has it on the front and an e-locker in the rear. Works like cutting brakes.

 

Love it! But after losing the left end of my bumper this weekend, they'll be put on my tailgat!
