Starting the day with sanding. LOTS of sanding.

I prepped the next several surfaces to get epoxy fairing as well.

Now it’s time for lunch and a trip to get more epoxy. The plan for the afternoon is to get a ton more epoxy fairing on the camper and finish the door latch for real. I have a little bit of epoxy filleting and sealing to do before I can cross the latch off the list for good.

Tons more epoxy fairing. It’s getting pretty obvious that the main flat area of the panels can do with one coat but all of the edges where it’s been glassed will take 2+ coats with sanding in between. The outside of the camper is pretty easy to work on. The inside is tough. Lots of overhead and crouching and strange angles.

That’s all the fairing for today. I’m over it. Haha! I will likely come back out in the evening to finish off the door latch.

For some reason I assumed that you’d carpet the interior surfaces like some of the caps are finished. Are you going to paint in there as well?

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
What do you predict the finished weight to be? I've had my own ideas but then you keep adding more epoxy and glass...

I thought about that but I think I’m going to paint. Covering surfaces like that cleanly with fabric would be a chore

I’m not really sure. Sub 500lbs all done on the truck? I need to find a scale nearby. I found a free one a while ago but it’s now behind a locked gate. I believe there is another scale but it’s $10 for a weigh. That’s small money but I may not even care enough.

That’s it. The latch is officially done. I haven’t crossed it off the list...just wanted to get out of the garage for the day. I’ll cross it off next time I’m out there. In reality, I’ll do some more sanding and fiddling to make this area look as good as I can but once this cures, it’s completely usable.

Tomorrow we are planning to do some snowshoeing so there likely won’t be any camper work happening. We’ll see how tired I am...

Every time you sand you keep saying lots of overhead sanding. I get it it sucks, I would loathe that part of it. Is there an easy way to keep rolling it like a cube so that the sides your are working on at the time are on the bottom? Seems like a worth while way to make it easier on yourself. Just a thought.

Too much work to roll the camper around. I don’t want to risk fumbling it and damaging it or getting someone hurt.

Thanks! The wait should be short. Well, short for a 1BC build timeline, anyway. :D I’ve got about two months before I’m heading to Moab so...

Didn’t feel like working on the camper tonight but I did want to work on something.

I really want to get some underbed boxes but I don’t want to spend the money for nice aluminum ones right now...but I NEED the storage. So...

    20C79008-A614-49C7-B10E-E24168C57C02.jpg
    2F7B6370-AD7C-4509-A9E2-BA2F16973BF9.jpg

I knocked these two boxes together tonight. I have a bunch of scrap marine grade plywood so I’m using up the small pieces to make these. I’ll trim up the angled end tomorrow night (or whenever) then glue on the end caps. Then it’s on to the door/hatch. I’ll end up glassing over this on the outside and maybe glass tape the inside edges. Not sure yet. Anyway, felt good to get something rolling that’s been on my mind for a while.
