In the process of talking with my vendor...they have located the Powerfold Actuator for me :D

    86782C6E-E9D5-4541-B8A8-829E598E3E14.jpg

They are currently looking into the Replacement OEM Switch, the Control Box for the Folding Mirrors to be able to operate, and the Connection Plate. Hopefully they will be able to combine it all for me into the DIY Kit I would like to provide for TacomaWorld! :bananadance: Once they locate all the items I would like, they will give me a ballpark figure and a quantity size I will need to order at minimum. If they are not able to get me the other parts, I will just part those out individually.

Still a work in progress, but it’s getting closer...

If we were to get the OEM switch that fits in the factory location on the door switch, would we need to cut a hole for the additional mirror switch or will a new plate be part of the kit?

Katie, you're doing awesome bringing this all together! You have a lot of attention already. I think it will explode once everyone sees Tacoma mirrors folding with an OEM switch! I'm interested in the DIY kit. I'd add puddle lights, ditch lights and cameras while I was in there too! Thank you for doing all the hard work!

No you would need to cut the opening. There isn’t a piece that I have found that would replace that piece for us. That’s why I was asking which switch would most people be interested in. The OEM Replacement Switch where you need to cut that rectangle out on our panel or the short stubby switch that matches our other switches

It’s been a lot of fun for sure. I’m trying to think of everything that you would need for this mod, while also trying to keep the cost down so it’s affordable. This will be the build thread for the Power Folding Mirrors for sure. However, I haven’t decided if I will make another thread for my Ultimate Side Mirror Build thread or combine it into this one. I will say that I have the Puddle Lights, Ditch Lights, and Cameras already. I’ve put an order in for some custom pieces to make some of those things look more OEM. The great thing about not having BSM in my mirrors is that I have 4 open Pin locations in my OEM Harness. I have already drawn up the wire diagram for my mirrors that I will post at some point, but they are all taken now :D

So does this mean those of us who have BSM and or heated mirrors will miss out on the Ultimate Side Mirror? I hope that is not the case because I defiantly want a set. You can count me in as long as I can keep the BSM and heated mirrors.

Those who chose to get a Brand New set of mirrors from you with the motor included, are they going to be OEM mirrors or aftermarket? It would be nice to be able to source the trim piece that already has the opening to install the OEM mirror switch.

I have Heated Mirrors, but I just don’t have the Blind Spot Monitor System in my OEM Mirrors. I was referring to the OEM Connector as far as being able to have all of my wires in the same wire harness and not have to run seperate wires or have like 5 different Connectors for all of my mods inside my mirror. This way if I ever want to remove my mirrors, I only will have to unplug the OEM Connector, my RGB Turn Signals, and Camera. People that have the BSM, all you would have to do is just run a wire right next to the harness. It just wouldn’t be inside the OEM harness. I actually have this on my current OEM Mirrors that are on my truck now. Since I don’t have my truck still, I haven’t been able to switch out my Switchback Turn Signals for my RGB Turn Signals yet.

    Extra Wire Ran Seperate:

Sneak Peak at OEM Connector & Replacement OEM Connector with Powerfolding Actuator and Puddle Light Wired:

    C63CBD22-A8BE-40F0-BE46-60CA6208EC8E.jpg

Only thing I still have left to wire is my Ditch Lights which will go in the upper right-hand corner Pin #1. However, people that have BSM have a Green Wire in that location already. I will wire my Ditch Lights the same way that the Technology Package has their BSM/Heated Mirrors Wired. My Ditch Light + will go in Pin #1 and my Ditch Light - will be combined with my Heater - in Pin #8.

As for the Replacement OEM Mirror, it is aftermarket but it is a Replacement for the OEM Mirror which means it is Plug-N-Play and has the same Connector. As for the Master Switch Panel that already has the opening for the Replacement OEM Switch, I have a message into someone about options for that piece ;) I might be able to have it included in my Kit.

I have never looked at the 2nd Gen Mirrors but after I complete the 3rd Gen Mirror I wouldn’t be against checking it out if there is interest there.

Here’s another pic of the modification that is needed for the OEM Replacement Switch

    C7152F0C-7009-4167-8118-C9BABCBE718F.jpg

I received news today that it is possible to have something made up for the Mirror Control, but making a whole new panel to replace this one will be complicated and costly. I can still look into it if there are people interested in having this as an option for the kit. Just know it might not be cheap to have made. However, if you look at my pic above, just like I mentioned before, you just need to make a small cut for the Fold Switch to come through the bottom like the Mirror Adjuster Switch. You can see by getting the LH side replacement OEM Switch that is offered, it will fit perfectly on our Mirror Control Panel.

Have you tried cutting one yet? I would think you would need to have some awesome cutting skills to make it look perfect and oem. I like the look, i just think i may screw up the panel trying to cut it.

Unless i have that $300 ultrasonic knife that @mesojdm has! Lol
