3rd Gen Power Folding Mirrors - How To!

I don’t have my truck yet from Toyota. Otherwise, I would probably have these bad boys already installed on my truck I do have a Dremel and sander and that is what I will be using. Like I said though, I’m definitely willing to get that piece made as long as people are willing to buy it. I can let you know when I get the quote how much it would be and we can go from there.

 

I will get a quote and share with everyone. I’m just transferring over the information that I was given today when I inquired about that panel. Hopefully I will get a quote soon and then we can make a decision.

 

You're paying for a mould. The process is not complicated but in order to keep cost down, bulk order is needed to keep cost to a minimum.

 

Expensive was used in reference so I thought it was ballparked and everyone’s “expensive “ is different so was curious. Example, I bought the shapewsys overhead switch panels and some would say that’s expensive… for what it is and when you compare the amount of switches to the one offered by MESO and then we all know oem expensive

Man! this is an awesome mod! I have been thinking of this mod for a long time, but honestly, don't think I have good hands as you do!

 

Well I received some great news tonight from my Vendor. They have found the following Full Kit for me:



This kit will work with the 3rd Gen OEM Mirrors and will be a DIY Kit for everyone that has the White Adjuster Actuator inside their Mirror. Again, to see which one you have, you can take the back cover off and look at it from there or you can move your Mirror all the way to one side and look behind the Glass on your Mirror. This DIY Kit would work for EVERYONE (ie. Technology Package and Non-Technology Package) as long as you have that White Adjuster Actuator. Now, you may ask, what if you don’t have that Adjuster Actuator and you have the Black one? I would need to know ASAP so I can place an order. Otherwise, I will just assume everyone has the White Adjuster Actuator in their OEM Mirrors.

There engineer is going to source the Replacement OEM Switch and the Automatic Control Box w/ Wire Harness for the Powerfold Feature which will be similar, if not the same, to this:









I know the full kit picture doesn’t show it, but the two wires for the Motor are included as well like I mentioned before:



Once they source out the Replacement OEM Switch and the Automatic Control Box w/ Wire Harness, they will give me a quote and lead time. They also plan on sending me a set first before I place a bulk order to make sure all the parts work

Yes. That is correct. However, if you are someone that does not want to modify your OEM Mirrors and would rather a Brand New Set, then I would need to know that ASAP. If that is the case, I’d just order the Powerfold Actuator and then order a New Set of Mirrors to install it so that when I send the New Set to you, it is ready to go! I’m actually hoping to be able to have a extra OEM Mirror for both Technology Package & Non-Technology Package complete just in case there are individuals that would rather I do the swap for them. How that would work is:

1) They would send me payment
2) I would then send them the Completed Set of OEM Mirrors
3) Once they receive the New Set, they would then send me their OEMs back

In order to do that though, their OEM Mirrors would need to be in good condition. They would keep their back cover to their Mirror and just send me the rest. Therefore, I wouldn’t have to worry about colormatching.

 

I’ll be your guinea pig on this since we live close! I have tech with heat and BSM.

 

That is just AWESOME! I cant wait until it all comes together! So are you going to have 2 options, one with the OEM switch and one with the single push switch? I know some of us may be comfortable cutting into the factory switch plate, but others may not be.

 

Katie....i have a 2016, TRD Sport with the nav and tech that includes BSM and heated mirrors...will your kit include what I need or is there anything else i need to buy?....also, will this be another plug-in-play like the trunk lock...sorry for asking dumb question but just want understand...with all the posts, sometime i get confused.

 

I have a couple tangential questions too:
(1) How would these behave when the doors lock? Would they fold in automatically? If not, is it possible to tie them into the driver door lock to activate folding? That would at least eliminate the need for an extra switch to fold the mirrors in parking situations. And for off-roading, oh well... manual labor. (2) Do you think it’s possible to tie a heated steering wheel into the mirror heat circuit?
