already tried the carrier bearing drop. absolutely easier...2 bolts..lol didn't help at all.

Make sure it’s actually your rear lift and pinion angle causing the vibes. I had the mechanics take out the entire drive shaft, then drive in 4Hi and my vibe was still there slowing down from 25-10. Concluded it was my tires after all and not driveline related. 90% sure, at least.

I know everyone says each truck is different and they are right. But I think that’s more to do with how much weight and mods people have. If you compare same model, same trim, same mods, etc... the truck should perform the same. Most people with the AAL don’t have driveline vibes. Most.

 

Okay I have a question, if I ordered the Bilstein 5100 with 887 springs and HS 3 leaf AAL would I be able to clear for wheel size 285s?

You'll have to do a cmc (cab mount chop).

 

It’s not really a matter of lift but over all room in wheel well. Cmc is most likely required.

Hey everyone, I’m looking into an AAL and it seems like the 3 leaf is the way to go for no load ride quality. I’m doing this for towing my camper a few times a year and I want to get cap. So my question is, which AAL, single or 3 lead, carries the a load better without sag? I understand that at a certain point they will sag but I want to maintain a bit of a rake with the cap on. Any input would be great thanks!

 

Maybe the 3 leaf AND retain the oem overload.
I think thats what @Pugga did and he has a cap and tools 95% of the time

 

I'm installing toytec 3 leaf aal with their bypass shocks tomorrow. Trying to get my truck to sit level with all my camping gear loaded and ride better.

 

In that case i would suggest leaving the overload leaf in.

Do 3 leaf AAL typically settle? I recently installed the HS 3 leaf with OL leaf left in. Since the OL was about 1/2” thick I wanted a 2” lift overall. After about 300 miles both on/off road the measurements are still the same.

Before (hub to fender) - 22”

After (hub to fender) 24.5”

 

I was actually discussing this issue with Wheeler's this week. Here's their simple response.

Progressives are more flexible and lose their lift heights quicker. But give a better overall ride. Single add a leafs get you the lift height and hold weight better.

They also suggested using bump stops for when I'm loaded. Still not sure which (single vs progressive) but thought I'd pass along what I learned. I'm leaning towards single since they are half the cost of progressive. Worst case, I waste like $75 trying them out.

 

I’m adding the headstrong 3 aal next week, I’m going to install with the overload. I’ll post my results...

Got my truck lifted today with the 3pack aal and I kept the factory overload spring. The truck rides really nice, of course its full of my old suspension and tires so we'll see how it is when its empty. But so far its riding great!

 

Is there any real difference between the 3 AALs from Headstrong, Wheelers, Icon, Toytec, etc aside from pricing and branding?
