My Tacoma was "attacked" by a rogue trashcan! Luckily I was able to avoid hitting it...

Gotcha. Did you receive any additional services or accommodations in school? The social side of elementary school; and any school for that matter, is difficult enough for neurotypical kids to navigate. There is so much to learn in a short time, and so many conflicting angles to process. Congrats on making it out relatively unscathed.

I had an IEP (Individualized Education Plan). I was often in smaller classes and got extra time on tests, among other things.

Those neighborhood pictures you posted yesterday are creepy af. Huge, identical houses, with no one outside. Looks like an emergency evacuation happened.

One of the things I absolutely hate about Uber Eats is that you do not get the address you're delivering to until you've already initiated the delivery!

For example, a couple weeks ago I picked up a relatively small order from a Jersey Mike's sandwich shop in Horsham (maybe ten minutes from my house). The order ended up going to some rather unappreciative kid, about ten miles away, in the city!

I picked up an order at some organic/vegan place in the middle of nowhere Montgomery County and had to deliver it almost twenty miles away!

Thankfully, I've only had someone cancel an order once, but it was right as I was pulling into the McDonald's in Souderton.

And this is why I will NEVER accept a check as a tip ever again...

This happened in February 2019, the same night I had to deliver the Jersey Mike's order into Philly.

Right after I dropped off the Jersey Mike's order, I got another request to pick up from a small pizza place around the corner. The guys at the pizza place were very nice and even let me use the employee's only bathroom.

This delivery was to an old brick rowhome, and I know what you're thinking...

Brick rowhome in Philadelphia; Probably kinda shitty, right? While the neighborhood was not the greatest, it wasn't a stereotypical ghetto and the houses were halfway decent. I knocked on the door and a kind black woman in her sixties or seventies answered (this was weird since there was a man's name on the order and she seemed to be alone).

She beckoned me into the foyer and I got a good luck at the first floor of the house. It was dated, but very nice, clean, and well-kept (just like you'd expect from a little old lady's house). She said she wanted to give me something for being out when the roads were bad. I was expecting cash...

She said didn't have any money on her and insisted on writing me a check, but she didn't have a working pen either...

So, I managed to make the pen work and wrote a check for two bucks at her instruction. I just didn't want to be an asshole...

I electronically deposited the check when I got home, using the Navy Federal app on my phone. The check went through successfully and I thought nothing of it.

Fast-forward about two days, and I decided to check my bank accounts via my phone one morning. I'd only had a dollar in my savings account at the time because all of my money was in my checking account and various investments.

I was shocked to find that my savings account was at -$16.00! It took me a few minutes to realize what had happened. The old woman's two dollar check had bounced, and since I'd deposited it to my savings account, that's where they withdrew the money from. That's fine. What pissed me off was that they had withdrawn this fifteen dollar processing fee which overdrew my account.

I promptly called NFCU and initially got the runaround. They explained to me that the check had bounced (kinda figured that), and not only that, but this woman's account with Wells Fargo had been closed and no longer existed. Okay fine, take the lousy two bucks back...

I was then told that it was their policy to charge this fifteen dollar processing fee (to the customer's account and not the account of the person who bounced the fucking check?!?!). I was very quickly losing my patience, and my stance was this, and it's pretty much what I said to the woman I was talking to...

I can understand why you took the two bucks back, and could honestly care less, but I had no way of knowing the check was no good. Explain to me how it's my problem that the check bounced or that the woman's bank account was closed...?!?! Explain to me why I should be punished for someone else's screwup!

The woman from NFCU said "it's just our policy" and I responded by not-so-subtly grumbling "This is bullshit!"

The woman changed her tune and said that since I'd been banking with them for years and had never bounced a check before, that she'd waive the fee and credited the fifteen dollars back to my account. Problem solved, but like I said, no more checks!
