I would recommend against shaving it down when there's a $10 LED Flasher unit you can purchase for $10 on Diode Dynamics. It's the CF18 relay. They also have a $60 programmable one if you're interested in that too. I have the $10 one in my truck.

Also, you may not realize it because it's inside of the fuse box and not under the hood where you can see/feel it, but that wire in the flasher is gonna get hot just like the resistors. Maybe not quite as hot, but I don't like Jerry rigging electrical stuff. Seems like it could be a potential fire hazard.

Test fit the All pro alum bumper I recently stole for $400 locally. Installed the Baja Designs fogs, just have to wire them up. Waiting on full skids and a rear bumper from SOS Concepts before I send it all out to get powdercoated to match the truck. Got a PIAA lightbar on the way as well as a Smittybuilt x20 winch to fit

I've got amber LEDs for my DRLs and a CF18 relay I'm waiting to install. Do I need to remove that entire bottom dash piece under the steering wheel or can I get to it another way?

 

How much lift did you get on the 1st clip?

 

This flasher doesn't work with all models, I had to mod mine because my truck came with DRL on & off capability. There is a ton of variances between model years which changes everything

 

You'll have to remove the entire dash piece. But double check that relay works before reinstalling everything, I wasn't able to use it and ended up modifying my module instead

 

Oh yeah I forgot it was only for non DRL trucks. My bad

 

I found it easiest to disconnect battery, take the bottom of the dash apart, pull all the connectors out of the fuse box, take that off it's mounts and lean it forward, and then swap the relays. I had to work really hard to get the factory one loose from the socket. I'm not even sure what actually popped it loose but the new one just snapped back in easy.

 

What would be some reasons for it not to work? I thought this would be the easiest way to not hyperflash like a noob.

 

It won't work if your truck came with DRLs from the factory, but will work for models that don't have them.

 

Well son of a... I have factory DRLs. So this whole project is a no-go and to install LEDs I'd have to wire in resistors where the bulbs plug in?

Yeah looks like the same one. Maybe I could use it in my tails.
