If you are paying full MSRP, you are not getting a deal.

An SR5 DCSB 4x4 does not msrp for 30k. It’s closer to 35k msrp.

    Edit: oops meant for v6.

I should say that this $35,000 is after the life of the loan (2.9%, 60 mo, 6k down), with 6.5% sales tax, and $200 title/tags/reg included.

Might be a disconnect in how we are both looking at this, but tax, title and fees are there regardless and will go up down accordingly.

What discount are you getting off of MSRP? That is where the real savings are looked at.

If you are putting $6K down and with taxes, title, finance charge etc. you are at $35K still... Not good. If you are going to spend anywhere near that you should at least be getting a TRD something. OR or Sport either way you can still get a good deal. They have 1,000 cash back and 6,000 down at 2.9% you can be right there in that range for sure. Don’t buy yet. Shop around.

So there may be some disconnect but I'm saying that the truck would be $30,800 to which I apply a 6k down payment towards and then finance the $25k at 2.9%, 60 mo. On top of this I would be paying the 6.5% sales tax.

That is almost 14% off MSRP and is considered pretty good and on the upper end of the range. I think you will be hard pressed to get anymore. At $31K, that is 17% off and I have not heard anybody getting those numbers with any regularity.

Looks like I can get a 2019 SR5 4v4 DCSB for 30k MSRP plus 1.2k in fees. Go or no go?

Thanks for that data point. Is that including any fees like delivery, dealer, document fees etc?

You need to look at your deal from two sides. The front end is what they are offering the truck for discounted below MSRP. The other side is back end of the deal which includes down payment and/or trade in and what is tacked on like tax doc fees/dealer fees or any dealer installed accessories on after the selling price of the vehicle is determined to be.

You need to negotiate the front end first, the MSRP minus dealer discounts and rebates. The front end will drive the back end on what your taxes are going to be. You have to watch for excessive dealer document and miscellaneous fees. Also, any dealer add on accessories are way overprice and marked up and should be avoid or negotiated off or way discounted.

Sounds like you are negotiating to monthly payment price and not a bottom line discount price. Never negotiate with a dealership salesman on monthly payment price, they will have you by the balls then. Negotiate for the front end pricing and keep an eye on the back end of the deal and monthly payment will fall into place.

I would at least look at the Off Road and Sport and see what kind of negotiating you can do. There are tons of Off Roads listed for like $33-34K before rebates and negotiating. You will have added features and get a better bang for your buck. DO NOT buy just to get a truck. If you are that rushed to get one... Wait and do more research. You should know what a good financial deal is before you arrive at the dealership man.

You should know how much taxes will be and know what kind of out the door price you expect. Why ask others if it’s okay? Tell the dealer what you need (overall price wise) and the worst thing they can say is no. Keep shopping before you buy anything. You sound like you need a plan rather than just purchasing something.

^Well said man. NEVER work off of monthly payment. You might as well just give the salesman lube and bend over.

Alright, I have MN taxes so 6.5% but thankfully I'm registration exempt and can get $500 cash back.
Definitely not negotiating with a monthly price or thinking that way and I am looking for MSRP then figuring out what fees would be added including document, dealer, etc. I know what my overall price that I want to hit including financing and everything in between. I've done a lot of lurking here over the last month and it just seemed like there was a lack of data so I asked around. The reason I'm getting really detailed with fees and tax is because a lot of people will throw around "OTD" prices and leave out or include fees or taxes. This particular SR5 I'd be getting around 15% off msrp.

Out the door is only vehicle price, taxes, title, and fees. Don’t worry about what other people are claiming they got (they could be exaggerating or telling the truth who knows). Every dealer, buyer, and region is different so you can’t rely on that anyway.

You need to make sure the price is the best you can get with everything included and if you can go elsewhere and get a loan preapproved you will be much better off anyway. Better rates and you are basically a cash buyer.

Yeah, this thread kinda sucks when people post their OTD pricing and not break it down. As Whitetail Assassin mentioned, everybody's deal is different on the back end stuff. Pricing threads really should only be about what people got on the front end of the deal of MSRP minus dealer discount and rebates. Everything else does not apply to the next guy most times.

With a 2.9% interest rate you mentioned previously, your credit sounds like it is in pretty good shape and in a better position than many others. Good luck in whatever you decide and find.
