At least you know it's back from PC, mine has either been sent to PC or is in PC or will be on its way back from PC. Until then Components Produced status.

For travels, I found that I could pack more in the three cases on my sporttourer than I would need at a camp. Over-prepped can be good, but lightness is nice esp with all the load behind the rear axle.

That new Grom, Monkey, or Super Cub would be killer. I am targeting a 450 enduro to get some ya yas out. That Monkey is almost irresistible.

Agreed on that. On several occasions I went on bike camping outings with the KTM looking like this, lol.

I think I carry the same amount of stuff now for myself, at least not more, and just a bit more for the lady.

But the KTM is gone now, so I'm happy that I kept the CT90.

And yes, the Monkey is amazing. The only reason I like the Super Cub more is I think it looks better...and I'd probably be ticketed for wheelies too much on a Monkey :bikewheelie2:

Which 450 are you looking at?

Someone else on this thread said they were in PC for about a month. My personal guess is on top of that they've had to add/tweak the manufacturing process including a 1 week "sealant curing" step & final QC to address the water intrusion issues. That whole deal is probably going to set the timeline back a bit. As much as the 5 year old in my wants it NOW NOW NOW, you really can't complain much getting a better product. I'm thinking ballpark of another 4-6 weeks for us.

In the meantime, I'll just keep checking that leaderboard every single day because I'm mentally still 5 years old. :)

Sounds like we have the same daily process haha check Tacomaworld and the leaderboard. I have a week schedule off work April 16-22 to drive and pick it up so I'm really hoping it done. I really don't want to have to cancel and reschedule those days off work.

Yep. That is how my DS friends are riding. No one has ever found themselves lacking.

But, you could put the Monkey in your backpack and claim ignorance. Hahaha!

I'm looking at used CRF450X, CRF450L, and WR450 with an XR400 ticking the boxes also. I'd like to commute on it from time to time, but also be able to get in further than the Taco can. Having an old Ducati doesn't turn me off from the maintenance on the 450X. I definitely want to stay Japanese at this point.

Just looking for $$ and the right deal. The backup plan, if the right 250 comes along, would be to grab it then swap in the 450 later.

That's why the Cub is ticking the boxes for me. Small and light so it doesn't affect the truck, can commute on it, and people don't look at it like they do motorcycles. Take it on roadtrips, take the CT on "overland" (hate that term) trips.

Nice choices. Thankfully Honda hasn't put that 450 motor in a 250 Rally type bike or I'd be figuring out how to take on a monthly payment, lol. Though you're right, those maintenance intervals are surprising to me for a new bike in this era. That performance though :bananadance: Really though, if the Cub was a 250 it'd be in my garage ASAP

Thanks! If I had the room, a 90 or 125 would certainly be on the list as a fixer-upper. Maybe with the next house.

That is part of the plan also. The Duc is 550lb. It'd be great to load a 325lb bike in the back and go a state or two away for some fun. Overlanding is cool as long as you're really doing it (malls not included ).

I do plan on slapping a larger tank on and using it more as a DS bike. Playing with just four valve shims and a single piston from time to time will be minor comparatively, but that is part of the reason that I am not looking at KTMs or Huskys. No 30hr BS for way less money. I just wanna ride.

That's my understanding, yes. You would need different mounting brackets though, and I think the tailgate seal is different as mine seals on the back of the tailgate as opposed to the top.

lol, I knew I was definitely not the only one checking daily. Ideally for me I'd love to see it in about a month, bigtime first world problems and all.

Yea, mine was in PC for a little over a month. Pretty sure they originally said PC takes 3-5 weeks. Unfortunately, that's something they have no control over.

But, once I got the email that it was back from PC, it only took them a day or two to put it all together.

I'm going to drive the 15 hours to pick it up. I was told I'd be contacted when it's cured and passes QC and then I can schedule my pickup date. With the weather the way it is right now, I wouldn't mind if it took a bit longer. However, I will pick it up as soon as they tell me I can because I'm impatient

This process has been the longest I've ever waited for anything. At 40 years of age, I'm finally learning patients. Not really but I haven't snapped just yet

More fuel capacity for all things! lol.

You mean the 690 Enduro/701 Husky aren't calling you? Almost at your desired weight and enough size and power to be damn near not rideable for a mortal like myself.

The thing that surprised me the most about KTM ownership was how sound and reliable the mechanical bits were. On the 1190 anyway, the electronics were... well I never got stranded anyway.

I think you're making the right call on going Japanese. The little 2 cylinder Kawasaki 300s are pretty cool too.
