Sorry for the rant..BUT.....

My truck is officially a POS...


The entire drivetrain is shaking and most likely ruined, The rear of my truck squeaks REALLY bad (I've already greased the leaf pack 2 times-about to be 3), My front bumper has managed to wiggle its way free and pop out on the passenger side and wont go back in (I did BARELY tap my friends truck), EVERYTHING rattles now, transmission sticks in 3rd and 4th, rear shocks are toast (I know I can buy new, but I dont have a job and that other money that I was getting has to go to other more important things), and a few more things.



I'm really to get rid of this truck when I get the title next year.

..But the sad thing is, whenever I look at it, I get pulled back into loving it again and when I do something else to it, it just makes it that much harder to really get rid of. I mean all the blood, sweat, puss, etc that i have has gone into that truck to make it as nice as I can.

Only problem is, it wont hold up its side of the deal....

its weird your bumper is popping out. I rear ended my friends brand new rubicon, my bumper got pushed it cause of the bullbar, i just pulled the bullbar out and it popped back into place, i guess you hit a sweet spot

Not anymore.. After going trailing with you, I trailed maybe 3-4 more times? The rest were like dirt roads to friends houses and everything.

The drivetrain was supposedly caused from greasing my carrier bearing.. No the shaking happen very slightly back way then.

Yeah me too.....

Been using it as a truck should be used ha. Hauling, little bit of light trailing, towing and daily driving.

Hears what I think you should do....take a trip to the dealership, they will make it all better, it will hurt the wallet but it make your truck good as new, trust me, i put my trust in the dealership

 

Not unless I get about $2000-$3000 to fix everything wrong with it... and then some.

 

I'll just get the parts and fix it myself.. I don't trust dealerships here.

Plus I can figure out whats wrong with it, if it happens again, you know?

 

IMO, these trucks really arent built for offroad. Toyota tries to save money with cheap Indonesian gears and tranny parts which wont hold up to the offroad situations we put them in, specially using a 2WD vehicle. I dont mean to take any credit away from Toyota, they are still amazing vehicles. However, I think alot of people fail to realize that if your going to offroad, you have to put offroad parts in the truck. I.E new gears, better suspension components, etc.

 

Yes I'm 17. The parents bought it with 23,xxx miles on the ODO. And I would love to fix up my truck, but I have no job and little money income, only enough to buy something nice for anything-anyone once.

And I've been applying all around here, just no one is hiring. Like I posted, I love working on my truck, but the thing that always gets me, is that this is a Toyota- most reliable company out there.

Now I'm not dissing on Toyota or anything but truthfully the new Tacomas were a joke. Hopefully they correct themselves with the 3rd Gen. Tacoma.

And this is my daily driver, its not like it can sit, broken, while I save up trying to get parts.







Please don't say anything like "I wish I had that truck when I was younger, quit complaining", "Talk to your mommy and daddy about that.." I really dont want to read it.

 

I dont know Lents, this seems to be your last resort, I think its time to let someone else work on your truck, not saying you cant do it but if i were you i would go to the dealership and save my self the hassle

I though the powertrain warranty was worth 60k miles, did you surpass that mark already?

Agree completely with you Manny. But you would think with all the offroaders and all the experience with offroading, Toyota supplies i.e. Land Cruiser, FJC, Hilux/Tacoma, T100/Tundra; you would think that they would be a little more... prepared?

Obviously a truck is meant for alot of different things.. Its meant to be used and get your money's worth, which in turn should demand for stronger suspension, gears, and other components. Given that this is also a Midsize truck, but I think when manufacturers have a "bigger brother" they are limited to what they can do because they dont want the midsize overall better than the fullsize.

Thats why I think its a waste of money to have all these trucks.. Ford, Chevy, Dodge.

Make one and make it the best they can possibly make it. Maybe more money in the long run but better on everyone else..

My PreRunner is an awesome truck (beside from the problems that are occuring now), but it has soooo much more potential than Toyota is letting it have. You can tell with all the TSBs...

 

Yeah it does, but call me hardhead all you want, I wanna do the things myself. If it doesn't go well, I know what I did wrong and fix it.

Plus I dont have the money for the labor involved
