I tried owning a manual but my private parts kept getting pinched between the clutch and brake pedals... so auto for me.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that 96% of people on here can comfortably drive a manual, right now, if needed - as in hop in a manual car right now, drive somewhere, and not stall once or have any other issues. Obviously this is an enthusiast forum, but that number still seems fishy to me.

Honestly I just bought a manual because it’s obviously more badass than any auto.

I don’t actually know how to shift it, I just grind the gears and occasionally push that left pedal. Not sure what it does but I love my grinding the gears in my manual! Plus the bitches love it and theives hate it!

You have to tie it back lol. You can’t just let it all flop around, especially in the snowy salty states, it’s dirty down there.

Or the folks who can't drive manual aren't casting their vote.

Those poll numbers are not accurate. Just like any poll in this sub forum. I absolutely don’t believe those numbers, and I absolutely don’t care if you can or cannot drive a manual. If a person wanted to learn, they could. It’s not rocket science... yet here we are.

I'm guessing there is a lot of that, combined with a ton of folks like me, who technically know how in concept, but haven't done it in so long that they would have to relearn it - thus they should have voted no. In short, I have a feeling the poll results are extremely inaccurate, or at least flawed.

I learned to drive at age 16 in a '76 Firebird - automatic.
I learned to drive a stick shift at age 18 while in the US Army, in an M151 A2 1/4 ton "jeep". Our motor pool guys were quite amused, but I even learned to tow a trailer-mounted generator, eventually.
During the second half of my enlistment, my commo platoon switched to 1/2 ton pickups - automatics. Bonus : bigger truck = bigger trailer-mounted generators to tow.
My first personal car was a '79 Camaro, an automatic.
Second personal vehicle - '85 Jeep Cherokee, a manual transmission
    Next - '91 Ford Explorer - manual
    Next - '04 Jeep Liberty - automatic
    Next - '09 Wrangler JKU - automatic
    Next - '12 Grand Cherokee - automatic
    Currently - '17 Tacoma OR - automatic

I think it would come back to me, but I enjoy the ease of an automatic transmission. It's my daily driver, after all. If this was just a work truck or an off-roading toy I'd go with the stick shift, but until then....

Side note: in my lifetime I've visited three cities that made me think (and say out loud, probably) - "jeezus christ, I'm glad I'm not driving a stick shift right now" - Houghton, MI, San Francisco, CA, and Duluth, MN.

Reminds me its my weekend and I wanted to make them “sugar” rockets that I saw on YouTube. It’s basically a homemade Estes engine. If you don’t hear back from me it’s because I’m in the burn unit getting debrided over and over again nbd
