I always liked the Lightning Rod Shifter set up, that would be great fun blasting down the track.

I said I could. I may stall out a time or two, but I could effectively make my way from Point A to Point B without too much fuss. Except in San Francisco because it is one big hill, and I didn't speak to my dad for several days after making me drive that.

    Working on them
I Can't Drive Automatic last time I did I tried to slam the Brake pedal to the Floor and yank the "shift" lever back when we came to an stop sign and just about tossed everyone out the front windshield... so everyone who was riding with me that day swears they will not get in a truck with me again ever if it has an Automatic.

Then that should have been a no vote, IMO. If stalling is allowed, then even someone who has never driven one before can vote yes. lol

I'd say there is a big difference between a stall or two at a tricky intersection and "a person starting cold turkey behind the wheel of a manual" but I see your point.

I can zero hand shift with my knee. 2nd to first and 2nd to third if I stretch before getting in the car. Anything outside of those gears I have to use my hand.

No but seriously..., I like when I’m approaching ez pass toll in my wrangler TJ. The wind shield is too vertical to pick up on some sensors, so I clutch, down shift, brake roll down window, steer and wave the ez pass out the window. then roll up window steer and row thru the gears. only need an errant phone call or taco bell in hand to make it more fun

I feel like the poll should be if you can comfortably drive a manual, right now.

Owned a couple cars with manual transmissions when I was young. I find it harder to shift and drink what you put in the cupholder. Most manual transmission cars take off slower from stops unless they are making a conscious effort to go fast.

I have driven a manual for my personal vehicle for most of my driving life, and I can do all the same stuff you do. That doesn't mean I have to or want to. I'm looking at Tacomas and haven't really seriously considered a manual. One it's a truck and "fun to drive" comes from where you can take it not how "fun" it is banging through gears around town pretending to be a rally driver or something. Coming from a string of modified turbo Subarus there's nothing fun on the road about a Tacoma, MT or no.

My biggest hangups on seriously considering a manual are the following: I need to swap vehicles with my wife sometimes and she bitches when she has to drive my MT car (she can though), no terrain selection/crawl control, and driving a manual off-road seems more difficult than it's worth. I've never driven a 4x4 legit off road with a manual and maybe it's a non issue with 4lo, but starting and stopping in rough terrain on steep inclines with a MT seems like a great way to kill a clutch in a hurry. And for what? To be more work driving around town? I don't get the appeal of a MT Tacoma.

Or how many miles and/or years out on a manual. I’m at 15 years and probably 250k miles

a specific manual, or any manual? Cuz I can comfortably get behind the wheel of my dad's M3 and drive that (why he taught me on that beast, I'll never know). But I'd need a few laps around the parking lot on a tacoma or something. Although I managed to do pretty well cold turkey on a friend's subaru the other day. I just don't get a lot of practice, but I can do alright

It's not hard to stall a manual on a hill.
Or when driving an unfamiliar vehicle.
I did it now and then.
