Nice! I got mine on eBay as well, I was wondering if you got it from the same guy. $225 with free shipping was a steal. If anyone is interested in this mod, PM me and I'll give you the link.

Front range is a better twin stick in my opinion. After having both. The Dave’s has too much slop in it

FB reminded me it's been 6 years since I did my swap, FJ case still going strong. If you look real closely here, you will see a picture of myself and @wrmathis wondering what the fawk we are doing

What are you doing to them to bust them up? The fj case has all the same internals as the Tacoma case, maybe an atlas or Dana 300 is more up your alley plus a front dig would be nice.

Yeah but...how? What were the circumstances of grenading a Taco TC multiple times?

I know they're chain driven and more delicate than the Orion TC we threw in my buddy's FJ45 but I'd like to know the why/what/how so I can avoid doing it.

Hey, I was just lookin at the newest 4wheel and Offroad magazine and they did a quick story about swapping third members in an FJ. They show pics of the front diff with the axle housing and it has an ADD actuator. I thought no FJs had the ADD?

The 6spd manual FJ's didn't have the ADD actuator because they also had a Torsen center diff and AWD/full-time 4WD. Because of that difference, the transfer case is a VF4B instead of the VF2A.

Then the auto had the ADD system?

That must mean when you shifted your t case into 4hi the ADD would actuate after that, or very nearly simultaneously?

Yes the autos had ADD but not sure how it was actuated. Getting the factory FJ ADD activation solution figured out is the one thing holding me back from doing this swap so am all ears.

You just wire up a switch to turn on the actuator yourself when engaging 4wd. I believe @6 gearT444E posted the wiring diagram recently. Wyatt sells the harness too if you don't want to make it yourself.

Thanks for posting, HomerTaco. I understand what others have done to get the ADD to activate in their Tacos (wiring a separate switch) but curious how the FJ activates it without a separate switch?
