There isn’t much space to play with on cabrack to drop it down so I’ll probably just mess with toprac. Thanks for your tips though. I might try the flat bar. Do you have the invoice of the ones you ordered?

I did it this way too. Went smooth. Maybe three min per weather strip.

    Quite a lot!
In that pic are the Front Runner ski carriers. Now I have the Rhino Rack ski carriers.

Did the rod vault not fit with the rod vault mount or was you just trying to mount it closer to the roof?

Wanted to mount it as close to the roof as possible for drag reduction and to ensure it fit in my garage door opening.

Awesome, you did a good job. I have the same setup and am wanting to snag a river quiver made by riversmithusa. They seem to be the same as rod vaults and have a lifetime warranty. I just had concerns over them mounting since the prinsu sets so close to the roof of the truck.

Those look really good. I think that design would be more rigid than the rod vault. It's not an issue with mine but I have a buddy who has one on a 4 runner and I can see the front oscillating when he's driving sometimes. I guess I'm partial to the rod vault though since the plant is about a mile away from my house.

Originally I wanted the rod vault, but riversmith has been pretty awesome with their customer service so far and I haven't even bought one from them yet, just asking questions. They are both really nice imo, I hope to snag one soon. I'll post up an update and possibly do a review when the time comes. Btw does your rear window on your shell clear when you open it up?

This was one of my main concerns but it's not at all an issue.

I’ve had both, Denver Outfitters 3 Rod Vault and Riversmith 4 Rod Quiver. There are things I like about both and things I’m not really fond of. If I could put them together, they’d be perfect haha!

Riversmith gets my vote in tube design and how the foot attatches to the tube. It uses a square sliding plate similar to what fits in Yakima/Thule tracks or the Prinsu cross bars.

Lock and box goes to Rod Vault... But not by much. The plastic on the Riversmith feels really thin and cheap, the Rod Vault felt substantially thicker... But for the price, why can’t we get an aluminum box?!?!?

Just my 2 cents... Let me know if I can answer anything else for you.

Thanks for the info! I plan on going with the river quiver when the time comes. I have been torn between the two, but I like the warranty of riversmith. Did you mount yours with the supplies mounting brackets?

Good information, Thanks for it. Just out of curiosity do you know of any products that are similar to these that accommodates spinning rod and reel? I had looked at these in hopes for a full locking and protection box for my set ups and only came across fly rod options. I also fly fish but use my spin gear more. Would be great to find a product that holds both securely.

Yeah, I used factory mounting feet on both of them. Didn’t/haven’t had issues with either.

I remember Denver Outfitters posting something about coming out with a Rod Vault for spinning rods, but that was a while and haven’t seen anything else. I have seen some bass guys around here riding with large pvc rod racks on their trucks as a cheap and simple solution.

    TopRac help!

Just purchased this rack and it appears the tracks on my Leer are too wide for the feet provided.

I am gona call CBI / prinsu tomorrow but has anyone else run into this? Should I have different mounts?79029F3C-5E91-4449-8D63-5C447E720089.jpg21FBADE7-FF95-4B98-ADBF-7541CC00410D.jpg

Shoot man that sucks. I got lucky and mine was exactly the right distance for it to be at its widest. The only thing i think would work for you is to get custom legs. I would see if some local shop could modify some legs for you. Might be a little cheaper than cbi doing something. Good luck though let us know what you figure out

Also for your geewiz i would turn your cross bars around so the bigger holes are facing up. That allows you to add the o ring tie downs if you want to or if you want to slip bolts into the cross bars. Doesnt really matter if you arent going to attach anything that way but you would have to take the cross bars completely off if you want to add anything in the slots. If that made sense at all.
