Yes I remember granny gear. I learned to drive on my dad’s 1993 Chevy 3500 extended cab Dually 5 speed. That was fun, I loved that truck. It had straight pipes sounded amazing and he even had a subwoofer in it for beats lol

I learned to drive on a manual. I went full manual on all my cars till the Tacoma. I even dropped a T56 six speed in my highly modified 1994 Impala SS.

Also, when my daughter turned 16, I told her I would buy her a car if and only if it was a manual. She was’nt real excited about that. We picked up a manual Ford. I told her every other car can be an automatic, but the first car needs to be a manual so she would be able to drive one.

    As far as driving a granny gear, I still own/drive two of them! 1954 CJ3A and 1960 F100 4x4.

I have no idea how to drive manual. I have ridden my former Yamaha R6 and Harley Dyna Superglide so I think I could eventually do it with practice. Had to sell the bikes due to an arm injury that required surgery. I’m starting to get that itch to ride again.

I never understood pretending the ability to drive a manual transmission is some sort of accomplishment.

Thinking driving manual makes you better or is hard to do is idiotic gatekeeping. It's not hard. Literally anyone can do it. This thread is a waste of space. :bananadead:

Right now there's 15 people in the "no" category. Come over to my house sometime, I'll teach you to drive stick in 10 minutes on my old Honda. It's not hard at all.

I was concieved in the back of an MT truck and driven them most of my life. However now that I’m older, wiser with a bad
Left knee, I have to admit that my AT Taco is a great option....... So Yes, I can drive a Stick but prefer my AT!

When my tendonitis acts up in my left achilles I will use my right foot on the clutch, that gets a bit interesting using 1 foot for all 3 pedals, lol.

I feel so soft now. And making a stick move is very different that being able drive one and not be a safety risk or a bored mechanics friend. So I disagree that anyone can drive one.

I mean, it is easy, especially on newer synchrod gears. Maybe the OP should reword it to include the stuff beyond what you can learn in a day. Like heal toe, rev matching, not rolling back an inch on a huge incline without a handbrake...
