Just picked up a new to me 2016 DCLB TRD Sport from a local dealership. Love it, coming out of an 05 Tundra.

Didn’t realize till the next day that my shift knob could be turned side to side. Is this normal from the factory?

Pull down boot clip, turn to tighten, then clip the boot back in place.

Yes, just give it one more full turn to tighten and it should be pretty solid. Mine was a touch “loose” from the factory.

Mines very loose...my knob that is... my shift knob

Edit: on a separate note, until you posted this I never really thought of it as something that came wrong from the factory. I would subconsciously twirl it side by side when driving. Now I’m going to notice it and it’s going to drive me nuts. Guess I will tighten it up as mentioned above
