The only whitetail shed I have ever found was when I got stuck in the mud leaving a fishing spot on private ground. I stepped on it getting out of the truck. Crazy because I have been mushroom hunting in April/May my whole life and have never found one. Need to get out earlier.

I had never found one until I actually started looking for them.

This... A hike is different than looking for sheds. When I look for sheds I am laser focused trying to spot a tine, a bur, some straight line. I also spend lots of time looking through the optics. You can cover a lot more country with binos than you can your legs. I bet I spot over 50 percent of my sheds in my glass first.

Mushroom hunting you stare at the ground and I have found many bones but no sheds. Just surprising.

Ive yet to find an elk shed. I think theres lots of people here that go shed hunting so its a rare time if you find anything. I have found deer and a couple moose sheds...but we are getting more snow so it wont be a while till we can see ground...

When sheds are dropped in the timber you would be amazed at how fast a couple of squirrels can devour them. I also carry binoculars with me and have spotted them that way.

I'd love to find a moose shed. We don't have any of those over here.

I got out for about 3 hours today and found 9,counting the old chewed up one. Even found a matched set. My season total so far is 12.9EC549CE-6CA6-4488-82DE-1BA7A21606EE.jpg

The best boots are the ones that fit you and keep your feet dry:) I personally love Kennetrek boots and have been wearing them 365 for 9 years. I wear the hardscrabble boots everyday for work and everything else, and the Mountain extremes to scout, guide, hunt, and trap in. Cantvsay enough about them
