Anyone have suggestions for a GOOD insurance company?

So I just woke up from what I was say is the scariest dream I have had in a very long time. From what I remember about it, I was parked outside a Mc Donalds at night while I was inside eating. When I came out I saw some people standing around a car parked in front of my Taco and it looked like there was some damage to my front end. I grabbed a flashlight and sure enough.. the hood was smashed in, my grillcraft grille with hid hella 700s behind it was crushed, my bumper was smashed, and a bunch of other shit. Now I'll repeat that this was a DREAM. I just woke up from it and am still shaking from the thought of it (it was so realistic).

Does anyone have any suggestions for any good insurance companies that dont f- u over in the event you need them? I love modding out my truck and dont want to have to pay for all new shit if someone messes my shit up. how do I make sure insurance will pay for everything? Do I need proof of purchase for everything? and if so do pictures count or do I need sales slips?

USAA is easily the best insurance company going. There used to be restrictions as to who they would accept but I think those restrictions have been relaxed. They are not the cheapest, just the best.

As with any insurance company, you should always have receipts for any work done, and pictures always help. Just saying that your solid gold $30,000 grillcraft grill is now smashed and you want to be reimbursed will not work.

 

Yes- You need proof of purchase/costs to get aftermarket parts replaced and you may even need to call your company and list out for them what you have installed. Most policies cover some $ amount of "other parts" but if you go above that you'll need to work it out with your company.

If you have access to it USAA is great. Otherwise one of the larger companies. Also take into consideration where you have any other policies (homeowners or renters, life, rec vehicles, etc). Cause you might be a multi-policy discount.
Whatever you do....Don't sacrifice coverages to pay less.

My man....you live in Jersey go with NJM (new jersey manufactures). See if your job offers it. I went from paying 1600.00 a year for a 05 Honda
cr-v (only one car) to paying 1100.00 a year for BOTH the cr-v and my brand new tacoma full coverage.

 

x3 on USAA I've always had good experiences with them. Their customer service has always been great. They're probably not always the cheapest, but they're rates have been competitive the few times I've compared them.

I've heard good things about Farmers and State Farm too.

 

If you qualify .... USAA .... hands down.

Many times people just look at the rates they are offered from the various companies. As a matter of fact, that is how many of these companies advertise their goods.

I think it is what the company brings to the table AFTER purchasing their product. You may offer me a good price but do you back it?

USAA without a doubt stands by their claim.

As an example. I had a '94 Toyota pickup with a little over 100,000 on it. I got in an accident, with the bed being pushed into the cab. Of course this meant more damage repair costs.

Now, my vehicles are well maintained. It was booked at about $2800 at the time. I was not in the market for new truck payments. The body shop spoke to USAA and said, "I know what it is booked at but you need to see this truck, it is in show room condition."

Bottom line: $3400 in damages/repairs for a truck booked at $2800. No adjustment in rates. Good enough for me.

 

I use USAA and am very happy with them...Next would be State Farm and thirdly would be Travellers. I've used USAA and State Farm and was filed a claim against Travellers (Good by my 94 BMW from Germany) and they treated me right.....

 

USAA as well. I've had to file two claims with them, one a guy rear ended my wife's car, 2nd time we had a home break in (Home owner's insurance). Both times claims were handled fast, rates never went up. Don't know about the others but for price we have full coverage on the Tacoma, 07 Mustang Vert, 07 Charger SRT8 and homeowners insurance and our premium comes out to $220 a month. Can't be beat!

USAA x4, Very good company, in some areas they use Independent adjusters but other than that they have been great. You have to be military or family to get in though.

 

USAA. I know they used to require some military service to qualify, or be government service. Do not know if that still applies.

Check my pics and see what happened to my baby after I tried to go up against an 18 wheeler. It probably booked for around 8-9,000 at the time. USAA called around my region looking for Identical Trucks. They then took the average of those trucks prices and cut me a check for $12,750.

Always been great to work with, easy to get a hold of (a person not a recording prompt) and I know they offer discounts if you do home or renters through them also.

 

i give the props to usaa after i wrecked my truck. they paid for everything got everything done in a timley matter good service and no complaints. i didnt want to replace my rear bumper with a OEM so they cut me a $550 break on my $1000 dollar deductible to buy a a/m one

Amazing to work with, they even moved some numbers around to carry over my under-insured claim (off by about 1500 bucks or so) so i didn't have to pay out of pocket... rates didn't skyrocket to much after either, about 20 a month for two totaled vehicles not to shabby. Also, back then they were over 50% cheaper than the 12 other companies I called, and last few times I looked still about 400 cheaper on the 6mo even now. Also, they cut you a dividend check at the end of the year if the $ works out.

I've dealt with Farmers when a guy backed into my first dodge stealth. His ins (farmers) took care of it no questions asked, got the repairs done at a top notch shop... flawless work and they even paid to have the spoiler repainted from paint fade. Seems like a good company as well. I've also had Allstate, but never had a claim...

Do not use Geico though, they are absolutely horrible to deal with and will not take care of you at all... a few friends have had nothing but nightmares with them.

 

I use travelers. If you buy new make sure to add the replacement cost rider. I got mine for 80 a year for 5 years. Say I total my truck in 2015, I would get a brand new Tacoma. You definitely want that rider the first year or two you own the vehicle since you would only get cash value. You lose a couple of grand in cash value the minute you drive off the lot. Ask your insurance provider about it if you bought a 2010 or 2011. A replacement cost rider trumps gap insurance.

 

Or you can get GAP insurance from the dealer/loan provider.... same thing.
