Happy hump day! Today was supposed to be my last day employed here. I was told yesterday it has now been extended. Later told to burn up some sick leave next week but something is “in the works” I’m so confused I thought I was on a direct path but now I just have no idea. Do I keep looking for jobs or not I have no idea what they’re doing

Do they pay out sick or do you have to burn it? If they pay, make their asses pay...

5 hours after the heartburn attack, up and at 'em. Had 3 slices of pizza for dinner. Breads do that to me.

Get to finish washing my work truck this morning then head north for a meeting with the Game and Fish Engineer, our State Engineer and a few of his folks. Game and Fish installed a nice boat dock in Lane 1 of a 2 lane boat ramp so we're going to huddle up and see if we can't all come together on a fix. Normally I could just go fix it but since another agency engineer did the engineering, the 2 agency engineers have to meet, pass the pipe and make peace. I just never seen them do it out in front of all of us before, don't really care to see it now either.

Y'all have a most splendid day.

I use to get my syrup from wifes relatives up north. Good stuff. Last year they sold off the syup makin equipment.

Over the years several wise people have told me the best time to look for a job is while you still have one. Keep looking even if you are offered a different job doesn't mean you have to take it. But may want to. Good luck, hope things work out for you sooner than later.

One of the guys I work with is from across the river in Wi. and his family has a maple syrup business. Be a month or so before they will start working the sugar shack yet. I always put an order in with Jesse for a gallon of Grade B dark, it has more flavor IMO than the store bought light stuff.

There are some places around here that make syrup but it's not as good as the stuff made up north.

Chris I think they are bluffing. When is the new extended date good to? Let me guess, no given date. Your employer knows there will be legal ramifications to dumping you. Myself, I would keep looking, but hold the line. I would make them dismiss me, then have my lawyer pounce. https://adata.org/publication/disability-law-handbook

    Morning all

They were hoping you would leave on your own.

Like Doug said, they blinked first.

So you aren't really in your 50s.

But you are doing the clean out so you must be.

My grandparents lived in Highland Co. and we use to make it.. old school way buckets on tree and cooked in a big evaporating pan over an open fire with a harth made of mtn. rock in the sugar camp, went to plastic hose latter on..Highland has a Maple Festival two weekends in March.. huge tourist thing.Highland is the least populated co. in VA. and has the weather of the Northeast as well as plants that grow up there but not this far south, surp makin has gone high tech now with stainless pressurized equipment.. most small farms out there will tap and sell the sugar water to the bigger outfits now days.but the flavor of cookin on open fire they cant match!!

You might as well move up onto a peak, at least there there is an excuse for a butt-load of snow.
