After the inspection talk, Maine is discussing reducing the number of inspections.

Mass 'updated' their vehicle inspection program about a year and a half ago. Cameras now record the whole process and the inspector never knows if he is being watched so they are thorough.

It will be interesting when I bring my '51 Opel in for a sticker this Summer. I'll bet no one there will know how start it let alone drive a 3 speed column shift. There is a mechanical button that engages the starter on the floor above the gas pedal. It also has semaphores for the directionals.

Hm.. it seems water, winter, salt have gotten to my harness that wires up the exterior scene lighting. Gave me a reason to pickup one of these to help troubleshoot it...

I'm assuming it's the standard sideways H pattern still, right? Probably will depend entirely on the age of the tech doing the inspection.

I'm so confused. I checked the tracking of something I bought last week since I hadn't gotten any email updates. It shipped from South Boston, and now is in NJ, but delivery is in MA.

 

FedEX is the shit west of the mississippi from what I hear...but it is literal shit out here. I hate fedex and often cancel an order and shop elsewhere if the company uses them. I'd say there is a 50/50 chance I get my package within a week of when it was supposed to come with them. And if you call and complain they call you back and yell at you!!! Happened to me twice.

 

I am glad I am not the only one that hates FedEx! I have had that happen to me (package went to CT, then through RI, into MA, and just stayed there for a couple days). Plus they destroy boxes like no other.

Dennis. We've had a family vacation house down there since the 50s when my grandfather built the original house. My parents decided it was time for their own to retire in in a few years so bought/gutted one about a mile away from the 'family' house.

That's how FedEx works, ships to a central location, and goes out from there. But honestly they all have their issues. UPS was the cause of a few ATF visits to my last shop, USPS delivers to the wrong address all the time or just loses it in general. FedEx is usually alright for me other than they seem to always want a signature for delivery. DHL just put in a place in Westfield so we shall see if they start delivering again

 

Didn't realize that about FedEx going to a central place now. I've had some things ship DHL eCommerce lately and basically DHL ships it to your local post office and the USPS delivers it. First time I had that was probably 6 months ago but seems to be getting popular.

Still couldn't get a sticker this morning. What a PITA, if you have regulations you should be able to enforce them and have clear rules for how the inspectors are supposed to determine compliance.
