Very nice shot, great composition. I did bump the shadows up slightly this is a very low resolution shot which makes it look noisy. I don't post high resolution shots anymore because I have had them stolen and used on other sites without permission.

Here's the only pics I have of my taco right now. I use a Canon T3i, and these four pics were shot with an EF 50mm 1.4 and some cheap rocketfish CPL. I also have the EF 85mm 1.8, EFL 24-105, EFS 10-18, and the EFS 55-250.

Some of my other stuff can be found here: https://www.flickr.com/mjordan_photography

Ah gotcha, yeah thats never any fun when your work is stolen. Ive sorta gotten over it myself, if they are gonna steal it they are gonna steal it.. I try to keep photography as a hobby so it doesnt bother me as much as the guys who do it for a living. I do shoot for work (event/product photos) but not landscape or time lapses. Instagram is one of the biggest photo stealing apps around lol. At least those shots are all low res also. also, you were using the 14-24 nikon lens right? that thing is tits for astro.

I do sell some of my landscape photos from time to time. Photography is not my full time job but I would like to supplement my income with photography to continue to taking trips to capture new shots. I have the 14-24 but didn't have it with me on this trip due to all the hiking, and yes its a great lens.

As soon as I start doing photography or video for work, it stops being fun.. so its hard for me to want to do it full time, i dont want to kill what i enjoy ahah. The trips i go on are mainly for fun trips where i shoot what i want.

    *edit*

Heres a time lapse i just rendered yesterday.

You should reconsider that, your work is flat out awesome and you have to really enjoy it to get that good.

Thanks! Its just the stress of getting the right shots and stuff that turns me away from doing it full time.. That and I know I wouldnt be making the money I am now doing only photography/cinematography. Its more fun when nothings expected of me and i have no deadlines. haha.
That, and the only computer I have is a crappy lenovo 15" with an older i5 and it doesnt even playback the 4K from my mavic 2 pro or the 5DMKIV pretty much at all.

That’s very understandable, especially in today’s sue happy world. I have done 2 weddings and while both went well the afterthought of everything that can and will eventually go wrong has led me to decide to do no more weddings. Not worth the risk.

I did just purchase a Canon 5D4 that I hope to do more paid work with but it will never be a full time job, around here everyone has a camera and is a photographer

I understand that completely, I shoot what I want and if someone is interested in purchasing a print I will sell it to them. Most of my current sales are through MaxPreps of high school sports. The money I make covers cost of the maintenance of the gear and future road trips. That time laps looks great! what was the location?

I'm also using an A7iii (and a Sony RX10iii for telephoto stuff). Do you remember which lenses you used on these two?

Awesome! Your composition is spot on!
How do you find the Milky Way? That’s my biggest issue. I know there are apps but they don’t work out in the middle of nowhere without service.

If you were to buy a DSLR today with roughly $1000 budget with a lens, battery/charger (kit) ready to shoot. what would you get?

I am familiar with the older 8MP canon D-10 (2000 era), and my daughter has a new Canon D100 (she bought with her babysitting money), I gave her the leses I had from my old D-10, and older SLR canon Rebel, and bought her some accessories to start her out.).

Was thinking I would like something in the 24MP range, and possibly a mirrorless setup. not really picky about camera manufacturer, but am familiar with canon's layout, and setup.

    any suggestions?

I owned the Nikon D7000 before I switched to my D750. Without a doubt I would recommend this setup available from b&h photo:

    https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1127272-REG/nikon_1555_d7200_dslr_camera_with.html

I was shocked to find this so cheap today.

That top one was shot with 18-105 f/4
    Bottom was with 10-16 f/4

Both crop sensor lenses that came off my A6500. I had just bought the A7III and couldn't afford G Master lenses lol

I use an Edge HD 9.25 scope with CGEM II mount. Camera is a Nikon 5200 until I can afford an astrophotography camera. I use other stuff like the star tracker and some other attachments.

Thanks! I would have actually preferred the core more in the center of the arch, but the image was created off a few time lapse frames from later in the night. I should have had the camera up higher on the tripod but oh well. haha. I think there was a bush in the way.

For finding milk, i use photopills. its a $10 app that takes some learning, but they have better guides on how to use it now. It will work to an extent without signal. Ive found that leaving the app open when you have signal, it should save the satelite map view which is helpful, but the milky way tool uses your camera, compass, and gps. So it usually works in no signal areas. sometimes you might need to calibrate your phone compass, but it shows how to do that in the app also. The app will also allow you to drop a pin somewhere, and put in a future date to see what time the milk will rise and set, how visible it will be and how it will look using the augmented camera tool. you can scroll your finger on the screen to move forward and backward in time to see how a time lapse would look even or get a visual. Its kind of like cheating.

My wife and I quit our jobs this last summer, moved out of our apartment, and went on a road trip throughout Canada/Mountain-west. We lived out of the back of the taco mountain-biking, backpacking, climbing, and fly fishing. This was taken driving across Nevada on Hwy 50 "The Loneliest Road in America". Great drive with plenty of camping spots off the road.
