@916carl , is the No. 2 the only Macallan edition you're interested in?

Any input on either of these? Just got these as a promo from our distributor at work. I figure I’ll try the Dickel as I’m a fan of their Rye.

Yep, one of my favorite drinking channels, haha. Also, the Death & Co book on the shelf is awesome, both of these have influenced my purchasing decisions...

I don't drink it, but I do have a few friends that like it...

I know this is the whiskey thread, but here's the rest of the collection:

Meh. I've always been of the opinion that it should be used as a mixing ingredient and not drank straight. 4 parts Jim Beam to 1 part SoCo isn't bad, and I'll occasionally use a 50/50 split of Cointreau/SoCo instead of straight Cointreau when I make a margarita (I make them old-school; fresh lime, tequila, Cointreau, and occasionally a dash of orange bitters, in a rocks glass).

    But straight SoCo, forget it.

I always respect a man with a solid assortment of bitters.

    Good looking stash all around!

Thanks! I'm on a quest to acquire more bitters, some of the ones I want are expensive though!

Yeah, that's it. I have No. 4 and have read of all editions #2 seems to rank the best. Just thought I'd like to try it, but if nit, no big deal. Thanks.

Well shit. I had hoped to get to the Kroger this morning when they opened to get some Weller 107 but I had to be at the office by then. I couldn't even get out at lunch to run over as we had a working lunch. By the time I could get over there this evening the 107 was all gone as well as tge Antique 750ml. He did have one ginormous 1.5 liter bottle left so I snagged that, plus another bottle I can't get around home. $42 for a 1.5 liter Wellers isn't so bad I guess, just had high hopes for the 107!

Those are nicely stocked shelves, I want to pick up some decent rums but it seems the NH Liquor stores don't sell wray & nephew nor smith & cross

If it makes you feel any better, you only missed one... It’s actually Weller Antique 107, they aren’t separate bottles

    image.jpg

And it’s ok... Honestly I think it’s just popular because of it's Pappy mashbill lineage. I did a blind taste test of quite a few bottles I had on hand last year (nothing super rare/crazy) and 107 and SR, didn’t make the top 5.

It is ok...I buy it for when my wife wants a margarita. I prefer Cazul 100 Repasado for sipping.

Haven't had that Dickel, but I have had the Knob Creek. It is pretty solid. Cut from the same cloth as Booker's, just not quite as robust and the proof hits you a little harsher. It is a quality pour, though, at retail price. As a promo item, it's an even better deal! Give a whirl and let us know what you think! Be prepared to add a drop of water - you might find it welcome with that whiskey.

If I were to tinker with aging any of them, I'd just get the Silver Western Oat, drop it in a small barrel, and call it a day. The OMG backstory is too much fun and, with them being a one-time run, they're pretty hard to find anymore.

One of the guys I hang out with had a pour and immediately said it reminded him of th milk after eating Fruity Pebbles. I've never been able to shake that description. I think it's pretty damn accurate.
