Right, there is absolutely nothing at all on the Manual OR and Pro, if for some reason you wanted to hold yourself you could use the handbrake.

If i had to throw out a possible guess as to why the OR and Pro Manual do not have it, would be because of the different style brake booster master cylinder combo.

I learned how to drive on a manual trans. When I was too little to reach the pedals, my father and older brother would sit me on their laps and let me steer and shift for them based on the engine/trans sound. By the time I could actually drive on my own it was cake. Most Kids - especially in the city - don’t have that kind of up bringing anymore I don’t think.

I don't blame them. Driving in any city is a nightmare. I would rather walk/take public transportation.

Today’s automatic transmissions are technically better than manuals. They can shift quicker and burn less fuel while doing it. I however DON’T want a BETTER transmission. I want to ENJOY getting behind the wheel. I love my slow manual shifts and crappy gas mileage.

Replaced stock radio with a Pioneer AVH series head unit. Focal component system w/a 10" sub powered by 2 Alpine amps. Weathertech floor mats. Line-X'd the bed. SCS Ray 10’s, Installed an A.R.E. It’s what i learned on and what I prefer. Some people would rather not bother but I get bored in an automatic. I have a 1st gen manual and wish the 5th gen 4Runners had the option of stick shift because I’d most likely be in one.

I believe he was just joking, but that switch is designed to keep you from rolling back or to help you get out of a gnarly situation.

If you push that switch with key turned on it allows the engine to turn over with out the clutch being pushed in. Kinda like crawl control in the OR.

The hill assist works when the truck is on enough of an incline that when the brake pedal is released the brakes hold for a sec or two to keep the truck from rolling backwards. For people who get nervous when starting out on a hill. I guess it’s an aid.

My grandpa taught me how to drive stick, so that was the only transmission I wanted for my first car, and second. Then I bought a tacoma, and I wanted a manual, but needed the longer box (can't get manual with 6' box in Canada) :p

The wife primarily drives the taco but she is very seasoned with a manual tranny. She doesn’t notice it nor do I when I drive it. We have both tried it to see if it holds on a hill and it will. I guess it helps a newb to get confidence on the hills from drifting back.

I bought my first car in 1975 (1970 Dodge Super Bee with a four-speed), got married in 1982 (wife had a 1980 Mazda RX-7 five-speed), and until 2005, every car we owned was a manual. We even special ordered an Explorer in 1992 to get a five-speed manual.

But then it got harder and harder to find manual cars. SUVs went all automatic, and even cars went that route.

Along the way, I discovered something though - having an automatic transmission in bumper-to-bumper traffic wasn't a bad thing. My "toys" were still manuals, but the daily drivers were all automatics.

Fast forward to 2017. I bought an Audi TT RS with a seven-speed DCT. UNBELIEVABLE transmission! That thing bangs off gear changes faster than any human. Love using the paddles.

It's amusing to read the comments from the hard legs who measure their masculinity by the fact they can operate a clutch. I can only imagine what they are really compensating for.

Don't get me wrong, I fully appreciate the love for manual transmissions, and hope to had an older "toy" to the stable in a year or two with a manual transmission. I'd also like it to be void of power windows, locks, infotainment, etc. Come to think of it, that 1980 Mazda RX-7 would fit the bill...….

Learned stick on my moms 96 maxima. First 2 vehicles I had were 1st gen 5 speeds, then I met the gf, & out went the manuals. She says it’s safer if she ever has to drive the truck over burn the clutch & what not lol.

My dad told me I had to learn manual before I can try driving an auto. I learned quickly, theres not that much to it, just kinda being in tune with the vehicle. It helped a lot that I new how to ride a motorcycle since all motorcycles are manual. I wouldnt get a truck in auto tho, only a sporty car.

I love driving manuals. Learned manual on my dads golf when i was 11. Had one autimatic car and i hated it, even tho it was a nice car. You can always start your engine if starter dies or dead battery and its just so much more enjoyable to drive IMO.

My 81 cutlass did the same thing. Floor shifter broke the cable. Luckily I noticed the collar rotated on the column and simply chocked the column and drove until I fixed the cable. Typical GM lol.

My Cutlass did attract the appropriate amount of ass though.

By the 23rd page my observations are as follows- manual transmission drivers make snarky remarks for funsies, utilizing tools like status and hyperbole, yet none of these comments I see as being serious.

Then auto drivers come in, many of them making excuses about why they don’t drive manual, then make a comment about manual drivers “overcompensating”

Let’s take 2 steps back and rethink what is actually happening- the incredibly low self esteem of the automatic transmission driver and how that affects his/her outlook on the lulz had by manual drivers.

    Y’all mad?
